Because Gretchen are only confident when there is about a 1000:1 Numbers Ratio Going On.

personally i'd love the sgts to be Ini 5, nothing more. then those power weapon hits before normal marines etc hit are a gods send.

Vanilla space marines get things that SW /BA don't get. they can get better stuff too, and cooler characters on occasion, but generally, SW and BA can have much better assault troops, yes.

Idiotic and putting words in your mouth?

No , so far all i have done is tell you why GW designed Termies and their sergeants that way.

Remember , GW dont look at the sergeant as a special character or anything ,
they look at terminator as squad first. the sergeant is only they to ensure RGN ( random generated number )
tips in favor for the squad , NOT win the fight for the squad.

but... this comment basically made me think you were saying that I was saying that sanguines and wolves were too good and that vanilla are just bad.

I agree they shouldnt be mini heroes, thus my origional input just to up them to I5, nothing else. this means they hit before most things which will be mauling the squad, and thus have more use than hitting on power which would be useless compared to hitting after anyways (becaus eeven on par the enemy hits will hurt you) and at a much more deadly level.

TA sarge's have swords because on the original metal models the sword arm had the sergeant version of the crux terminatus.

But my two cents on the matter. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to change his equipment up a bit. I mean, even a "regular" tac sgt. can take a plethora of different equipment.

Black Templar Terminators says hi. No sergeants anywhere in the army, including the termies. Is there even 5 power fists in a tac termie pack, or is a BT player that, for some reason, is looking to add tac termies to his army all outta luck?

I think the relic blades idea was good shows their veteran status and makes more sense with the storm bolter I mean I always thought it was strange to have him inferior to a tac sarge in that the tac sarge can get a pistol and have 4 attacks on the charge but the termi doesn't get any other benefits to compensate. A relic blade would address this IMHO.

Consider the following.

All Terminators in codex chapters are first company veterans.

All Vanguard Veterans in codex chapters are first company veterans.

All Sternguard Veterans in codex chapters are first company veterans.

Vanguards can use any damn melee weapons they want.

Sternguards can use any damn ranged weapons they want (even lascannons woo).

Why can't assault terminators use any melee weapons they want? Why can't tac terminators use any ranged weapons they want?

Because they have a 2+ armor save and a 5+ inv save.

That's why.
