Cadians and Catachans in the same build is fine, they're all just infantry at the end of the day.

You just touched on the reason I haven't even started buying minis for my Guard army yet - my infantry, what little there will be, will all be DKOK, which are £35 each from the FW site, Commissars at £10 each and tank commanders at £5 each, I believe. Which means my infantry will be just as expensive as my mass of Chimeras, which will actually hit the table. And the only reason I need infantry is in case of Chimera wrecks!
I could just use Cadians, but I'm an all-or-nothing kind of guy, and DKOK fits the 73rd Strekari Armored Cavalry's fluff best, so.

Yeah. DKOK are freakin awesome. They remind me of steel legion, except like way more grimdark. They're awesome!

I have a DkoK army, I love the look. But an all resin army is a huge pain in the ass. Every time I play with them at least 1 model breaks. The las gun tips are the most common. So I've learned that FW armies are in fact not intended to be played with.

Just remember you can't spell Imperial Guard without...'oh god, run away!'
I love IG though, even if I have to clog the enemies gun barrels with my dead to win!

Yeah see that's part of the reason I'm going mechanized.
First, 80% of their infantry will be useless.
Second, my IG won't run away.

First, Veteran squads stand alone and take up a single Troops choice, they do not constitute part of an Infantry Platoon.
Second, you seem eager to get your infantry, and even your command squad, into melee combat, which isn't really where you want them. I would say nix the power weapons, power fists, and a couple of the meltaguns in favor of different ranged upgrades.
Then again, I've seen IG played as a melee army successfully... but only against certain opponents. If you end up playing Nids or Orks, you're boned.
Also, templates. You need more templates. For dealing with those pesky horde armies. Maybe some flamers in your infantry squads, and a Basilisk in place of one of the Leman Russes?
Nix a second Leman Russ in place of a couple of Hellhounds if you really want to have fun with templates, but I've seen either one work quite well.

Hmm? I knew that..Is there a problem with the formatting? Sorry about that, I knew they were.
And you'r totally right. I should opt for eithera heavy flamer or a regular flamer. In the first draft, I was using a grenade launcher in every squad, which was okay.

IG codex has so many fun rules for flamer templates that I don't know why anyone wouldn't have at least a couple of Hellhound variants... be it firing a flamer around a corner or wounding on a 2+... flamers in IG armies are pure love and joy.
And they come in super handy in infantry platoons, especially when you're up against nids. Nids will rip your infantry to shreds unless you got some decent template weapons in there.
Regarding Veterans, I see what you did now. At first glance it totally looked like you had a second infantry platoon with two squads of Veterans, but I see the points difference now and I realize those are separate. My bad.
