WOW, this thread has epic fail written all over it. If some people would just use a thimble full of common sense when trying to interpret the "rules" that GW has deficated unto us, then we wouldn't need pointless threads like this one.

1. Of course you cant use DOA while in a land raider, that's dumb.
2. The FAQ has already been posted a while ago, learn to search.
3. I'm an ultramarine player, and you guys complain about OUR special treatment, deep striking LRs...really.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

a - have a jump pack assault unit in a land raider?
b - waste the ds land raider rule by transporting a unit that can already ds?
c - debate what seems to be an answered question?

Why hasn't anyone pointed out that Jump-pack troopers cannot ride in any transport(other than the Storm Raven)?

Assault marines don't require jump packs to have DoA.

As for:

a) Because a 65 point upgrade to make your Land Raider scoring seems worth it. Particular if you could have also meant it only scatters d6" when DSing.

b) Because Assault marines without jump packs can take a LR and LR can only be taken as transports not HS and for the reasons mentioned above.

c) Because this is YMDC and people will debate anything without using common sense and then they'll say that RaW the FAQ is just house rules and doesn't stand...

But yes the debate for me was over the minute someone posted the FAQ and havibng mentioned that it is the LR that DSes not the squad should help with that too. For instance in the case of assault marines in a drop pod, which wasn't directly answered by the FaQ.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Yep. To take a LR you need to buy a unit since it is a dedicated transport. For me that is a 5 man assault squad that gives a 35 pt discount on your LR when you drop the jump packs.

Because Assault Troops have DoA as a special rule, and can remove their Jump Packs and buy a transport.

I don't understand why they didn't just put DoA as a rule connected to Jump Packs and leave it off of all the list entries, instead of just some of them.

They're blinged out space-nazi-vampires who drop land raiders on people from space and their dreadnaughts come with giant blender hands. They have a chapter master who kicks people in the junk and has a gigantic two-handed chainsaw as his weapon of choice. Why wouldn't you want to play Blood Angels?

Bat-nipples are preferable to dull-marines, closeted-marines, and furry-marines.

.seems like we're done here then. FYI it's always worth having a flick through the existing GW FAQS to see if they answer the question.

Miracles do happen.
