I liked Descent of Angels lol
We've got the stories coming of the Raven Guard, and the other side of the destruction of Prospero.....
what next?
Well i'd like to see Sanguinius and Dorn fighting at terra.
Question is:
Will they do the battle between Horus and the Emperor.
And who should write it??
My top three:
Graham Mcneill
Dan Abnett
William King

Well, there is an audio book about the Raven Guard and Corax at the Dropsite Massacre...

That's coming up!
Probably about 10 more books and 5 more years from now, but it is coming!
And really, it HAS to be Dan Abnett...

Also one of the problems with the Horus Heresy is it's SO huge you can't really cover it in 20 books.
But they really need to do more stuff in between the Drop Site Massacre and the Siege of Terra.

I think they will do a book on how exactly Erebus came to be tainted by the Ruinous Powers. I know they were all WTF over the Emperor saying "Don't worship me", but what actually brought them into the fold? It didn't start with Erebus.
Also if you want a hint at what is coming up next in the HH series, then Amazon Horus Heresy. There are a couple of books out there for reserve. I do not remember them right now and I cannot access Amazon right now. Obviously Prospero Burns is coming out in January of next year (hopefully). but there are a couple of other ones hanging in limbo.

Corennus wrote:The Horus Heresy series is (in my opinion) one of the most annoying series of books ever.
You have Horus Rising, False Gods, Galaxy in Flames which is one story.
AND THEN you have the fluff surrounding the events leading up to the Istvaan massacres.
I wish they'd started with the background stories for each primarch, THEN done the events leading up to the Istvaan debacle, and then on to terra.
Don't mind most of HH but I agree they should have covered their background stories first. Their origins if you will.

I think we don't need a book about their origins as most of us know it already and it's not really part of the Horus Heresy.
There are a few more confirmed on the way; there's
- Nemisis (assassins)
- The First Heretic (Word Bearers - Erebus?!)
- Prospero Burns (These dudes that do wolf impersonations)
This thread covers most of it: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/262453.page
I agree with Alpharius also, the seige of Terra will be a long time coming and presuming they cover it, then the final battle will almost certainly be Dan Abnett, or maybe Graham Mcneill. I can't imagine anyone else doing it.
I'm not sure if they even will do the final battle - after all they have gone the entire series so far without really describing the Emperor - a good thing IMHO.

Betrayals, pure and simple in their eyes. They were betrayed (one way or another) and saw chaos as their only ally in bringing about retribution:
Mortarion: Betrayed in that the emperor aided him in his final quest to the top of the mountains despite his protests.
Angron: The emperor would not let him fight beside his gladiatorial comrades and when the emperor teleported angron out of the fight they were slaughtered.
Magnus: The emperor sent the SW to attack him and all he was trying to do was warn of the heresy. (Yes horus tricked Russ but that's not what Magnus thought)
Fulgrim: Was convinced by horus (with the aid of the daemon sword) that the emperor was wrong & when he went to convince his closest brother, Ferrus Manus, he told Fulgrim that he would not join and a fight ensued. Fulgrim saw this as a stab in the back by his closest brother. . .
Lorgar: The emperor told them not to worship him as a god, if you are religious, imagine god being next to you & telling you "stop all that racket and get back in the fight". They felt their fealty & faith betrayed.
Horus: Felt betrayed that the emperor was retreating to Terra and leaving his sons to continue the bloodshed in his name.
Night Haunter: Felt betrayed that the emperor and his fellow primarchs would not let him return to his home world to play batman (sorry had to say it).
Alpharius - Omegon: Felt betrayed in that he was never truley accepted as an equal by the likes of Guilleman and others.
Perturabo : Felt betrayed that he was constantly in Dorns shadow (Dorn having built the defenses of Terra)
I'll be the first to admit some of these are quite a stretch but they are all rooted in cannon lore.

Some people don't though. They only get their info from the HH books. Which is a shame. I also agree they shouldn't get to detailed with The Emperor. Which will make the final battle pretty tricky. Perhaps do it from one man's POV. That Olanius Pious guy?

Sadly, we now do know.
The "Imperial Webway" Project - a massive intergalactic superhighway free of the Warp. But, coincidentally enough, not free of Eldar.
It is what the Golden Throne is keeping a cork on, currently.
Apparently.
I guess they had to figure out something for him to be doing back on Earth, but I'm not a big fan of this explanation.

I'm also disappointed we now 'know' about the Emperor's actions, although a little bit (bit too much in this case) of light being shed on the [controversial] subject does help.
I don't think the idea of using the Webway is too bad, as at that point, the Eldar weren't very prominent, and if the Imperium could travel (fast-than warp) using the Webway then they wouldn't need to access the warp and therefore wouldn't expose themselves to Chaos, removing their main threat. I think.
But yes, the explanation could be better, but does also make sense IMHO.
Corennus wrote:I think the Emperor will be kept in shadow and the end fight will be done from Dorn's point of view.
Is that including the fact that Dorn didn't witness it?
Then Rogal Dorn stepped through the gateway onto the bridge of The Vengeful Spirit and upon seeing what had happened, muttered the two words that would forever echo within the Imperium's legacy.
"Oh Feck."

Not really, if they lead up to it correctly.
A 'normal' sized HH series book could get the job done, maybe with a bit more of a page count...

I always viewed the Primarchs as fragments of the Emperor's personality....amplified without any balance;
Horus----Ambition
Angron----Anger
Lorgar----Metaphysical/Spiritual
Magnus-----Intelligence
Fulgrim----Artistic
Russ-----Focus/Savage
Sang------Purity
Dorn-----Resolute
Gulliman------Wisdom
Kruze-----Dark
etc...
The Chaos Gods just took the excesses of personality each had and turned them against the Primarch.....(Promised Fulgrim heightened sense of pleasure for his desire of art, Horus glory for his ambition, Angron kills for his anger, Magnus knowledge for his intelligence, etc....
