I was looking through my bits box last night and was very pleased to find an old metal plasma cannon, just like the one you used!
I can see you used guitar strings, but I have to ask. What are the plastic looking cables made out of? and where do you get this magic brown stuff, is it better than green stuff?
Final question, how do you get the putty so smooth? I hope to learn your jedi skills

I think that is a pen lid or something. There doesn't look like there is any putty on the model.

Thank you Cypher for your detailed instructions. If I get a worthy Techmarine model I shall give the conversion a try. Your beamer is definately the best I've ever seen. Do post up pics if you get it painted anytime soon, it would be great to see this project 'complete'.

I have just finished my regular Forge Lord complete with the Axe of (name to be made up yet but counts as a Thunder Hammer...anybody any idea's for a name?).
I wanted this to look the same as the CB model (i.e same body, shoulder pads, purity seals etc). Part of this means having to have the banner to put the chapter symbol on but I am not 100% sure about doing it.
From a practical standpoint nobody in their right mind would have a banner flapping around with the mechanical arms of the harness possibly getting entangled. That said, nobody would actually go to war with dirty great banners on their armour in the first place (except Samurai and maybe the hordes of Genghis Khan)...not exactly stealthy or practical for moving through woods, ruins difficult terrain etc, so what the heck, I will probably just go with it.
Anyway, here are some photos both with and without the banner.

Wow....beautiful. I love all the purity seals and the movement of the model. He has so many arms its almost distracting! Very techmarine.
I reckon you should call it "The Axe of Hammers" or "Sledgehammer" that way it will do exactly what it says on the tin...

Yeah, I'm not sold on the banner. It just makes it look overcluttered.

another great post. The harness is cool. You're going to have two tech marines? Makes sense based on your chapter. We'll have to get a group shot of all of them at some point and your future plans and more background and stuff. Really creative stuff as ever.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Thanks for the comments guys. Sledgehammer doesn't quite conjure up the right image but Axe of Hammers may have merit...thanks.

Hi Orinoco, how are you? I have several Tech-Marines in my army but these last two will never be fielded at the same time as they are the same character i.e. the Forge Lord. I just wanted to have models to represent the different kit he can wield.
Just as an aside, here is a picture of my original Forge Lord...now demoted to an ordinary (if there is such a thing) Tech-Marine.

I think he looks better sans banner, there's just too much going on for it to look effective.
Can't wait to see him painted.

yeah you may be right...I am still undecided...perhaps when I have sprayed it up it may look a bit better. Then again actually painting it would probably help too. Sooo much to do, so little time to do it.
