It is. It's the players that are more interesting.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

What I find fascinating is how my bike army has changed after playing it for a year.
This is what I now bring in a 1500 point game.
Captain on bike w/relic blade
5 bikes w/2 plasma + HB attack bike (joined by Captain)
6 w/2 plasma + HB attack bike + PF Searg
6 w/2 plasma + HB attack bike + PF Searg
6 w/2 melta + MM attack bike + PF Searg
2 Typhoon Speeders
1 TL AC / TL AC Dread
1 AC / LC LC Pread
Has your army changed much since you started playing it?

Wow, no attack bike squads? Here's mine at 1500.
Captain, bike, powerfist, hellfire rounds
Librarian, bike, nullzone, avenger
4 Bikers, attack bike, 2x flamer, powerfist
4 Bikers, attack bike, multimelta, 2x plasma
8 Bikers, attack bike, multimelta, 2x melta, powerfist
2x Attack bike, 2x multimelta
2x Attack bike, 2x multimelta
2x Attack bike, 2x multimelta
Thunderfire Cannon
Thunderfire Cannon
I've kept the core pretty much the same most of the time, with the three squads + captain, while the supporting elements evolved as I played the list. The gear on the captain was also something that evolved through a lot of different combinations until I ended up with the unlikely powerfist

Sadly, it hasn't. Captain, Relic, Shield, Bike 8 Bikers, 2 Meltas, Fist, Hvy Bolter Attack Bike. 8 Bikers, 2 Meltas, Fist, Hvy Bolter Attack Bike. 8 Bikers, 2 Flamers, Fist, Hvy Bolter Attack Bike. 3 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes. 3 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes. 3 Hvy Bolter Attack Bikes. 1490/1500. I built the list and haven't needed to change it ever since cause it's as streamlined, low on fat, and as 'all-comers' as I could make it. (with some personal restraints). The only thing that varies is the stuff I try beyond 1500 points. Oh yea, libby is always the next addition after 1500.

Khan promotes a Death Star build with one of two units:
Ass Termies or Tooled Command Bikers...offers little to the rest of the army while at the same time taking something away.

As for your army, do you use reserves often? Just asking. Cause I can see the whole, I'll kill the opponent's troops and deny him objectives will murdering him in general is the goal, but it seems cutting it close when the only scoring models at 2000 are 10 biker models...maybe they chill in reserves so they are not shot at for as long as possible?

As for Thunderfires... I second AF's question.
I've heard ups and down, but... LOL, that it's functional and awe-inspiring if given the chance.
Best results as I've seen them is if you consistantly explode vehicles... forced bunching up sucks for the opponent .

Again, it's called a Death Star for a reason . I played a doubles tourney with Khan, where my Death Star was stupid. Full Troop Biker squad. Khan on bike. Chappy on Bike. 3 Techmarines w/ power weapons and harness on bikes. All in one squad. Basically the shock and awe had us walk through all our games....we didn't win cause the soft scores were pretty horrible . But it was funny as hell as it wasn't expected....but it wasn't as durable as people thought it was either....as the wound allocation was not as abusive as say nob bikers .

I dont reserve the troop choices. I play pretty conservatively with my two bike squads, only deploying them where I know they will win and not be exposed in return, or if they start taking shots I turbo boost them out of the battle and my opponents generally leave them alone. It's not their toughness that saves them; it's their mobility. People tend to leave the bikes alone though bc they prioritize the land raider redeemer the land speeders and the command squad.
Its a situation where the context is really important; just looking at the stats you'd think they are easy to kill but there's more going on. I can't remember the last time I lost all of my scoring units in a game. The bikes are the last thing to get shot at.

The thunderfires are awesome in a biker army IMO. The bikers themselves excell at taking out transports/tanks, and the thunderfire is awe-inspiring against clumped troops that just fell out of a transport. Even MEQ's cry a bit when you throw 20+ wounds on them. Stuff like lootas and ork mobs dissapear off the field in a round of fire etc.
I find them very valuable as they add the thing I need most in my bike army, anti-infantry. Blowing up a battlewagon with some multimeltas and then evaporating the 20 boys inside with one 100pt unit is what I would call good value
The thunderfires took some experience to get the most out of however. Deployment is crucial with those glass cannons.
