Honestly, with all the contradictions among codexes, black library material, and other gw approved stuff, it's more or less impossible to get a definite answer to something any more complex than "orks are green" or "space marines give games workshop employees a hard-on."

I forget where I read this but I agree completely, it's a universe where people fly across the galaxy in space ships to fight with swords, believe whatever the hell you want to believe.

Eldar shenanigans are the best shenanigans!

I'm pretty sure there's a discussion in Horus Rising where they're speculating on the colour of their next opponent's blood and someone says "I think it'll be black, like the Orks" Can't find the exact page but I doubt anyone's too bothered.
And yeah, I think it's feasible to suppose it changes colour. Human blood, in certain conditions, can be so dark as to appear black-ish.

My Swimming pool must be filled with ork blood Cause of all the algae And plant matter dead bugs frogs the unlucky squirrel that couldn't swim....and after all that my pool is green and it stinks something fierce so i guess some khrone cult sacrificed ork blood to the blood in my front yard....in the 4th ed codex ork blood is green...and rogue trader ere we go!!! ork blood changed color depending on what squig they consumed...and in the Xenology book the ork had dark green blood so YMDC

I don't remember in which book I read it so Salt may be needed for this:

Ork Hide is green due to Chlorophyll in their Skin, this Chlorophyll does not however permeate their blood(wouldn't need to their blood does not see sunlight unless the Ork is damaged); Thier Blood however contains something like twice the amount of Hemoglobin(the iron-containing oxygen transport "devise" in blood) as humans, to "power" their musculature; so their Blood should be red, Very Dark Red.

I think that was on the very old GW website(you know the one with large articles on the various armies)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

You know Whats sad...Ive sat on My porch all day since reading this thread and stared at my pool thinking how many orks does it take to fill up a inground pool then i thought well normal real iszed orks prolly few hundred maybe a thousand...but then i thought what what if they were just an inch tall how many it would take a few hundred thousand or a million...but either way i still think ork blood is green cause its in the codex

When you paint blood on an Ork who is to say it is THEIR blood?

I like red for drama but I figured it was probably some Marine that spilled it.

it really depends where there bleeding because blood has different colours when oxygenated eg if a human cut a vein it would be blue or black depending on a whole pile of things which i cant be boptherd to list. so really you could be all right and no animal or ork has one particular colour unless orks dont need to breath to live.

1500pts space orks
1200pts space marines "cover is for pussies!"
850pts guardsmen.

I remember it being mentioned in an old WD that ork blood used to be green, but in the newer fluff they changed it to a very dark red, simply because it contrasts much better against the green skin and allowed the 'eavy metal (and other) painters a lot more in terms of creativity.

On a side not, the blood itself would not contain any chlorophyll, as that deep below the skin very little light would penetrate, especially with the toughness of an ork's hide, and so trying to perform photosynthesis in the blood would be wasteful to the metabolism (and since the old ones were very smart, I doubt they would allow such a flaw to pass), and so the blood wouldn't contain any. Think of a tree, the very core of the wood is not green, it contains no chlorophyll as there is no point in chlorophyll being there.

i remember it being green, on the old ork dex the ork on the front cover was bleeding black, in gunheads and rebel winter the orks were bleeding red. anyone confuzzled? also the orks in gunheads were brown so i think some skin variation is possible. anyone seen john blanches orks? brown. rember the space ork army featured in white dwarf a while back? white. i think they have the fluff to support what ever you decide to imagin them to be. on another note what about tyranid ichor? i think purple but is that true?

My Sister's boyfriend knows a guy who is a janitor at at mall that has a GW store and he said that it was definitely Squats vs. Jokaero.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but wasn't there a point when they said that their blood is actually a part of their digestive system?

Basically it could be any colour depending on their planet and diet leading to Orks that are possibly different colours like blue, brown, orange, red etc.

Also not sure about Nids but Tau blood is actually Purple. It was mentioned somewhere. I guess it was them trying to make it more realistic by having them have iron or something in their blood.
