It's a GW model. It's on the base it came with. It's in accordance with the rules. I don't see any reason you can't use it, no matter how old the models is.

This "fix" about the only issue I can see coming up.

Yes, the current rules do not say use the most recent models, but they do not say to use the most recent codex either.

That said, I would still not complain about old models.
(Well maybe in a tourney where its apparent that it is deliberate but even then just to rib my opponent)

Then you have the option to not play against those people if you have a problem with that.

The point I was trying to make was that having a different approach to the game to your own doesn't make someone unreasonable. It just means that they have a different approach to the game. If that approach is different enough to your own that you don't like it, then don't play against that person.

The game is a contract between both players... so works better if both players are starting from a common ground, rather than having to argue out the differences. You'll enjoy your games far more by playing against like-minded players than you will trying to butt heads with people who play with a differing philosophy to your own.

I agree fairly strongly with insaniak's sentiments. If you don't want to play these models, don't. If you don't want to play against them, nobody is forcing you to do anything.

What's the point of hiding a trukk behind 30 boyz? A trukk is there to get your boyz in the fight faster than they could walk. I'd love it if ork players I faced screened their transports with walking boyz.

shhh! hyperbole makes the drama more intense! don't bring your common sense into this. either way, my pic on page one shows it only takes 3 boys to screen an OOP trukk!

The point is that such a stance on models will become unreasonable in very short order; for you can not use old Chimera's, Basilisk's or Leman Russ' as those models have all undergone new designs. New vs. old Rhino's, whirlwinds, razorbacks, vindicators, etc. etc. To say that having a rule against older models being not unreasonable is just pushing it a bit far.

And while I do agree with you that playing against like minded players is always more fun, it still shouldn't be a problem for people with older models to play. Since there are no rules for them to break with those models ((if they are glued to bases supplied with them ))

I have not seen any huge difference between the older models and the newer ones, except for the accessories and weapon options. And there is no way I am going to scrap my older Leman Russes and buy newer ones. Or any of my vehicles for that matter. Not for the price they are charging you now.

In a friendly game? Sure.

In a tournament? Not so much, but I suppose you can always forfeit/drop out of that tourney you paid for.

I agree; I don't think anyone should have to replace anything they've spent their hard earned money and time on purchasing, and building/painting.

However, on the chimera's there's a big difference with the side armor in how the vehicle is just a hair shy of being a full cm narrower. Over 5-6cm on each other totalling a total of 10-12cm sq. difference. Makes their foot print smaller, they fit more places, and have a narrower front profile. Sure its small in the difference from say that Avatar; but at what point does all this just get slowed to disallowed old models? Even the new russ has differences.

Only if you let it.

How 'reasonably' or 'unreasonably' you allow the rules of the game to become enforced in your games is entirely up to you.

To say that having a rule against older models being not unreasonable is just pushing it a bit far.

Nobody was saying that you can't use old models. What was being said was that some players might object to old models that have changed significantly.

Whether or not that's a reasonable stance to take comes down entirely to how much of an impact you think that changing the size of a model has on the game.

In a tournament, you don't have to worry about your opponent's interpretation of whether or not a given model is legal.
