To the guys saying that the AC is best as a light tank popper, you know that in range an AC will out kill AV14 right?

Math it out:
LC - penetrating
1 * 1/2 * 1/6 = 8.3%

AC - penetrating
4 * 1/2 * 1/6 * 1/3 = 11%

And AV13... and AV12... and AV11... and AV10. And are equivalent against TEQ. The only real advantages with the LC are instant death and double range. Not small advantages at all, but considering you're talking about a transport with AC's that has smoke anyway, well, yeah, I would go with the AC's.

Why are you multiplying the number of shots by 1/2 - SM are BS 4 not 3.

Either way you are right, the Assault cannon is better than the lascannon against most AV (AV 12 is a bit different since lascannons can glance it too but assault cannons can't). Lascannons have the range and instant death going for it, assault cannons have the power and volumn of shots going for it.
