Full automatic at point blank range = Dead target
Not being able to parry or dodge hordes is sad :(
Librarians are crazy stuff though!! Keep failing and rolling on the perils of the warp. But being a stormwarden i have an effective strength of 85. Throw in your force weapon. Im almost automatically killing anything i hit.
also got the power to increase my WS and iron arm to break the game
our team almost got wiped out by 6 ork kommandos

Orks are Tough. I sent 3 level 2 Dark Heresy characters up against 4 Kommandoz and a Kommando Nob. They only just made it out alive.

If DH characters of that low a level survived for more than a single round, then they shouldn't be too much of a challenge for the uber characters of the DW, I would think. Which book are stats for kommandos in? Creatures Anthema?

They are in the creatures anthema, which we didn't have at the time, so our ork kommandos had pretty much stats taken straight from 40k*10 And their weapons we're boltguns as shootas and Burst cannons as big shootas but with less penetration for both :( Bolt guns kill marines...
And as we only like to play using boards and terrain we had space hulk missions so open a door, get full auto'd by horde of hormagaunts >.<.
The apocathery has pretty much entire bionic face and a bionic left arm. But the marines are still pretty damn hard to kill.
GM kept rolling 01-10 to attack which generates like a load more with full auto.
We found that there are like loads of rules for monsters and such, we don't have actual rules in the DW book, so had to make it up. Tyranid warrior multiple arms to our GM = Makes 1 more attack. Turns out its something like he ignores broken arms and stuff
Its good stuff but i recommend not playing space hulk missions 1 lucky full auto at point blank can kill a marine straight out :(

Multiple arms does give you an extra attack. It's what makes Genestealers so frickin' scary - 4 attacks as a Full Action with Lightning Attack.

How do you get full-auto'd by a horde of HORMAGAUNTS? You must mean termagaunts, and even then, only if they have Devourer's instead of their normal fleshborers. Anything else would not be a legal full-auto attack.
@narked I'd be interested in an online game, but if you're from the UK I'm afraid our timezones would be too different: I live on literally the opposite side of the world (like 10 hours difference) so it would be pretty hard to maintain a good schedule for posting or meeting up on chat.

Ugh. So not looking forward to the Final Sanction mission. I think the entire Kill Team should requisition some flamers. Heck, I'm running that Mission, and I feel sorry for the team. At least, I'm going to treat it like the Deathwatch is supplying them for an extended mission hunting down a Genestealer Cult, so the team has the opportunity to deploy loaded for bear. I'm hoping that people realize how handy a Hand Flamer and some grenades are before the Genestealers show up.
I'm running Extraction starting tomorrow night, and I'm afraid the relatively innocuous Hormagaunts and Termagaunts may make them think Tyranids aren't that bad.
I can't believe you only get 1 renown for defeating a genestealer in single combat. You should get 1 renown and be awareded either the Brass Balls, or the Posthumous Medal of Overconfidence. Automatically Appended Next Post: H.B.M.C. wrote:Not to nitpick, but if he is at point blank, that +10% becomes a +30%, so a Full-Auto Burst at Point Blank would be +50%. That means he only misses on a 96 or above.
Actually I appreciate the nitpicking, as I'm gonna be running this game and the more errors I can make (and learn from) BEFORE GMing, the better. My point still stands, however, that Marines shouldn't be missing as many shots at medium range as they do with this system. The guys joining the Deathwatch ought to have years, if not decades, of experience, as well as being superhuman, genetically engineered killing machines.
I suspect that a well trained (real world) soldier would be hitting more shots than a lot of these guys. I know that my friend with Marksman certification (sorry if I got that incorrect, it's been years) was hitting high 90%s at range consistently, and he wasn't a Space Marine.

Not to doubt your friend's accuracy with a rifle, but were the things he was shooting at running around and actively trying not to get hit? Was he under fire and artillery bombardment while doing his marksman test? Were there any loud explosions going off in the distance? Was there any smoke or fire messing up his vision?
I'd say that shooting targets on a range is significantly removed from being in a close-ranged fire fight. Additionally, given that most shots in combat miss completely, I don't think hitting 50%-70% of the time is such a bad thing.

I agree that the starting characteristics could be higher, but then there would be little room for advancement. Just start your characters at rank 2 - 3 if they still seem weak, but require an increase in ballistic skill.

At rank 2 or 3 you actually start feeling more like a DW marine rather then a fresh battle brother out of the scout company.
