However, I'm not sure about the Driver; any suggestions as to how I might change him about a bit? He doesn't really fit, IMO...
Could try a Traitor IG (fluff wise he could be a slave or lackey).

I considered that, but he just doesn't look like anything from 40,000. Is it possible to assemble without him? Does it look silly? What if I added some more Skeleton Limbs and Heads over the Seat?

Oh, I see. You are not talking about the Renegade driver looking out of the hatch, you are talking about the, well, sorcerer at the back. You can just leave him out, he is a single miniature.

And there's no Flat Surface under him, or anything that would need Covering, or Added Detail?

Sorry for thread Necromancy in advance but I didnt see any updates and would love to know more...
Im very excited about this......its funny I am doing something very similar, but alot different. I have the first Squad, and a Character painted, and another few squads on the assembly table although I was waiting to complete the army before I posted any pictures.
I will be using Tzzeench rules (4+ Invul and AP3 Bolters sound good too me) and I like the idea of magic but of course its all subject to change.
Looking forward to see how this progresses however if I had to be super critical I love the corpse cart Kit bash but it does seem painfully obvious you just glued it on top of the rhino......maybe sink it in a bit or make it a bit more subtle? I did something similar when I kit bashed a doomwheel onto a landraider and the results were spectacular.

I must agree with using the legion of the damned as your models, it just fits.
Anyway, go for it!

Wow, it's like looking into a mirror.
I've had a Legion of the Damned army using the Thousand Sons rules for a while. It's a solid fit, and you can even throw in some skeletons/ghosts using the summoned demon rules. You do lose out some of the more chaos-y choices, but you definitely get some solid options.
I also have the Sgt Centurious model, and I run him as a Chaos Lord with a Tzeentch Demon Weapon to represent the Animus Malorum draining souls from the enemy to power the Legion (the Skull he carries).
My fluff for them is that the Legion is a sort of Purgatory for Space Marines who lost faith. Not ones that went chaos or rogue, but regular marines who had a moment of weakness in hard times, or died a failure, so they become part of the Legion untill they find redemption in doing the Emperors will.
