Like most have said, it's probably gonna push some gamers, but I'd think that if you took the Deciever model and added a GS'd cloak and Nightbringer-esque paint scheme it'd look really cool and convey your idea

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Just look in the Inquisitor line for something that you like. The scale is the same and they are still GW models so o.k. in GW run tournaments.

Imperial Gaurd 18,000 Orks 16,000 Marines 21,900
Chaos Marines 7,800 Eldar 4,500 Dark Eldar 3,200
Tau 3,700 Tyranids 7,500 Sisters Of Battle 2,500
Daemons 4,000

This model is incredibly expensive (and very large), but I think it looks great. check it out.

I agree with the "no nightbringer" side. No point in causing unnecessary confusion. In a friendly situation it might pass, but youre a hardcore tourney player.

I'm fine with conversions or "counts as" in general, but generally speaking I wouldn't consider "X valid unit in my codex counts as Y valid unit in my codex" to be legitimate in a serious event, including the "Catachan snipers are Ratlings" example posted earlier.

I saw a great conversion of the Deceiver model to be a 'hyped up' Necron Lord - the player didn't like the idea of using THE DECIEVER every time he played, so he made a Lord which was an 'Avatar of Deceipt' or something.

It was just the Deciever with a Necron Lord-like head, painted metallic, but it looked pretty good. I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere...

I'll continue to agree with the idea of using the deceiver body and finding an awesome looking head to swap onto it. It doesn't even have to be GW!

Started wargaming with heroscape. Who says kids can't be generals?

If you're open to considering the other GW lines, then you could always use Sauron or one of the Witch-kings on some elevated base.

Or you could use a Tomb Kings lord, but again on an elevated base to match the Deceiver...

I'm not sure offhand (don't play any LoTR), but if you look at this cover, you can tell he's a fair bit larger than the other models.

I've always thought that this model would make a great C'Tan. Definitely post pics if you end up using him.

LotR is TRUE SCALE so all their guys are much thinner and stuff

Also, @ Dash, if your thinking of using this model at a tourny I'm pretty sure GW has banned the use of LotR models to represent 40K units. It came up when people started using the balrog as a deamon prince. Newline doesnt allow it in their contracts with GW to protect their IP. Thats why the scale between the two lines is different to discorage the use in other systems. It would be a great C'tan though.
