Alright, If I get ambitious I might make some Storm Trooper conversions. (If I can find a place for them)

I also have a question (It may be a huge noobish question but its stopping me from making my list.)

Can a HWT go in a Chimera? I know it wouldent make very much sense, but I'm just wondering since it says you can replace 2 guardsmen with a HWT in a veteran squad.

I don't think that there is any reason why not. I hope so.

GW pulled off the Vostroyan models way better than the old Valhallan models imho. of course it could be that i just like the lasguns better =]

I just can't agree with the lasguns. The Vostroyans guns look like 2x4s with a bunch of metal bits tacked on. Add to that the rediculous amounts of giant furry hats, mustaches, and feathers. While there is a lot more detail on the models now, and they are better sculpted, the overall concept and look just is daft imo.

There is a friend of mine who plays a fully painted Vostroyans and the look amazing. He just won best army and placed second in a recent tournament.

A friend of mine has a 1000 point army he built up to that incrementally since they came out. As a guard player I love the way they look. With tanks and sentinels in their army colour they look formidable on the table. Though next guard army I go for will be a Genswick Rifles conversion. Once I can afford the men at arms to convert and finish my beastmen units I'm painting right now.

Instead of making another topic, does anyone have any idea of how to convert a HB into an AC?

Even more reason to dislike them Although I thought the fuzzy hats were more of a Prussian thing.

IMO... are the best IG miniatures maybe....cool, a lot of details, etc etc etc....
but i can assure you..... do not use them unlike you wanna make a veteran army... paint all this stuff for a IG army like my own (lots of foot-slogging infantry) its a destiny worse than hell...

I like the models enough they're the only army I would be willing to make that's all metal (let alone the only IG army I would do), their fluff is the best of the IG IMHO but then again I've always liked Russian Cossacks which is what the 1st Born are based off of visually.

For the paint scheme I've always thought grey and gold would be cool for a winter theme, especially with all the fur on the models painted white.

FOR THE WHITE BOAR!!!!!!

I am doing a veteran army, not only for painting, but I just don't like having a million people

I'm thinking about either a grayish color with white trim, or the GW red theme.

I've wanted to do Vostroyans for a good long time - pretty much ever since I first saw the minis. They're some absolutely beautiful sculpts (the best in the IG catalogue, in my opinion), and they look fun as hell to paint.

I really hope GW eventually comes out with a set of Vostroyan Rough Riders, so I can paint them as Black Sea Cossack cavalry.

As it is, I'd settle for Tsarist regimental troopers.

But my wallet says "NO MEANS NO."

I first saw Vostroyans In white dwarf book 319 fall of Medusa which had a really cool scenario. They look pretty cool and diffrent from most other IG regiments.

I personally like thier lasguns for the wood stock which is diffrent from the plane looking lasguns.

The Vostroyans are lovely - they kinda have a steampunky vibe going on. Obviously old-fanshioned looking, but they're actually from a very industrial world that makes highly crafted weapons, so they are usually fielded as Mechanised/Armoured companies. As people have said, cuts down on the cost of the models when everything is a MechVet squad.

For the Cityfighting/tech theme I'd include lots of vehicles with shiny brass bits, snipers, demolitions.
