Do you think the new Daemonhunters codex will be competitive?
Yes. All new races are.
Yes. How could Grey Knights not be competitive?
No. Never were, never will be.
No. They will be totally overpriced points wise.
I dont know?!

Actually, I read excerpts from a battle report from Gencon where the new GK's fought Orks. In 2000 points the GK side had 30-40 total models, and won. I have a suspicion that, like all of the newer codexes, they will be plenty tough.

Sorry but that's a completely bogus rumor or someone using a homebrew codex.

The real codex will have much more imagination in it than anything these rumors have guessed at. Look at Blood Angels, how many of us predicted the Decent of Angels rules or the Infernus Pistol. Nobody had any clue about Assault Marines and their 35 point discounted dedicated transport or deep striking Land Raiders.

Personally I think Daemonhunters are going to be MUCH more competitive in the new codex and I've also heard rumors, though I'm not sure, that Daemonhunters will be combined with Witch Hunters (and possibly Alien Hunters?) to make a sort of Inquisition army as a whole. Back to the question, I think Daemonhunters will be more competitive for a few reasons,

1. They can't get much worse! There overpriced, there rules suck, and there wargear is terrible.
2. Every army GW has given a new codex has been VERY overpowered compared to those who haven't recieved a new codex in a few years. Case and point: Blood Angels-OMG are they powerful especially with the freakin Storm Raven. Orkz-Mass mobs with FNP and Battlewagons galor. Tyranids-Trygon and Blademaster that should sum it up.

Anyway, those are a few of the reasons I think the new Daemonhunters codex will be competitive and I've even heard we will see the Storm Raven model finally because the Grey Knights are getting that too. Well assuming fluff is right, because if you read the Blood Angels codex it says under the Storm Raven entry that the Blood Angels are fairly new to using it but the Daemonhunters have been using it for thousands of years (apparently not in our game though lol ).

I hope GW does a good job with the Daemonhunters codex as they are one of my favorite armies in terms of fluff. Who wouldn't like a super secret Space Marine chapter designed soley to kill Daemons and threats to the Imperium. That and their models look really awesome. I have 5 of the original metal Terminators including the Brother Stern model and I even have 20 Grey Knight troops back from when I wanted to do a serious army and they are by far my favorite models as well as my best painted!

Except GKs will have LRs that can teliport around the battlefield while carrying Dreadnoughts on top.

GKs will also be able to reroll EVERYTHING.

No that isn't going to happen. The codex's will be kept separate. GK's late this year or very early next year and sisters will get a White Dwarf update next year.

If I were GW, I would so release Daemon Hunters and Daemons of Chaos as a boxed set in 2012.

I was going to start a GK army- until i discovered that there'll probably be a new codex soon- hopefully with plastics!
so for now i'm content with an allied force of SM's and converted GK's (Inquisitor, Grand master, assassin).
All I can say is as long as the new models are metal, i'll get 'em. They are too awesome-looking to bother whether they're competitive.

I don't care if a GK is 50 points a guy...as long as he is worth it.

Careful what you wish for. GW also thought about how awesome fexes were and uped their point costs considerably. We dont want an army of tyrannofexes

if anyone has bothered to look at my bio they will see that i used to collect tyranids. that was before games workshop no matter how good they are failed i think personally to make a decent 5 ed tyranid codex.(my fex army i had started to build was a waste of money) who says the same wont happen to grey knights. and like the old gk codex there are limitations. YES i adore the models of gk and thier powers but gw will have tough decisions to make. if they make gk models cheaper points wise then the power of the models compared to the old codex ones will be weaker. but if the dont then it will suffer from the extreme low model count as before? but like any army in 40k under the right hands and used with the right mind and models any army can be competative. some like gk might just be harder to achieve this.

The low model count is rumored to be balanced by the ability to reroll all failed saves.

other rumors suggest NFWs will be rending

These 2 rumors need to die. They're completely wrong.

do you know something to the contrary?

the Rending NFWs is far fetched, but rerolling all saves sounds plausable
