To be honest, I'm not even sure Warhammer 40K deserves its own sub forum, all the threads read the same anyway...
My vote is no, just chat about it when a subject comes up....

I literally picked up the game yesterday.
This is it. This is the game that we've been waiting for. You can get into the hobby cheap. $30 book. $30 models for a starter kit (plays alright), $50 and you have a good force.
Throw in some paint and stuff, and that's $100 for fielding a force in a wargaming hobby. $100 for wargamering! A HUNDRED DOLLARS AND YOU CAN WARGAME! Not with plastic tokens or cardboard chits, no Dixie-fex, painted models on a table. 40k, you can pay $90 and get base rules + a codex.
The rules? The rules are EXCELLENT. I read it and thought "GW could read this and take tips." Everything is order of operations. Tabletop games are so complex there will always be random rules questions? Well, yes. But Malefaux, despite being many times more rules complex than 40k (every unit has multiple abilities and triggered abilities - literally, everything does something) has generated far less.
This is what will grab the MtG players and bring them into wargaming. This is what will change things.
Its own forum? Who knows. But if you're not preaching this game to people new to wargaming and showing interest, you're an idiot. I have no other descriptor.

Its a great game Rising, I'm not sure I'd say that the rules are excellent though.
Dont forget to pick up the expansion book, Rising Power. Automatically Appended Next Post: Which faction did you pickup?

Order of operations. Triggers. Priority. What's not to love? For instance, they had ways to resolve multiple triggers in the rulebook. If an event triggers as the result of something you are doing, you pause the event and resolve the trigger. If that trigger activates other triggers, you resolve those in order of last activated to first activated. Once that's done, you continue resolving the event.
This solves the Deff Rolla as part of a Ram question. Before it is even a question!

Book comes in at my shop Tuesday! I picked up, to start with, the Leviticus box set, a hollow waif box set, and a desolation engine. It's just a cool army concept. He runs a large number of models for this game, it's fun.

Good luck with Leviticus, about the most challenging master you could pick to play.
Once you start playing and your looking through the rulebook , your understand what I ment about the rules not being excellent. Its an amazing concept for a game, and it is unquiqe and creative, but there are alot of occurances that arent covered in the rules. Also it has one of the worst rule book layouts i've seen.
Still a great game though.

The Hammer of Witches
A new day, a new time zone.

A game is deserving of it's own subforum when it generates enough threads that it starts crowding out the other topics. If you have to sort through a half-dozen Malifaux threads just to find the newest Inquisitor one, that'd be a good argument Malifaux should get its own space.
|
"-Nonsense, the Inquisitor and his retinue are our hounoured guests, of course we should invite them to celebrate Four-armed Emperor-day with us..." Thought for the Day - Never use the powerfist hand to wipe. |

I'll be honest, looking at how the rules are handled, I can't honestly think of one. I've played a proxy game now (Orks versus space marines! Okay, Lady justice and a few pals (the Space Wolves) versus Seamus (Orks, obv)) just to get a handle, and it worked very well, once we figured out everything we can do. This game is COMPLEX! I'm sure we both missed many things, hell, by turn 3 I was realizing why you don't want to bring any guys who like crows with Seamus, but it learned a lot.
The rules are laid out like utter crap, this is true. White Wolf is not who you want the rulebook layout to remind you of.
