Exactly. I've heard of what pases for Mexican food in GB. It took me a week to recover. Probably not much different. Tex Mex is even more specialized.

Perhaps, though calling them "monkey country Africa" might in some circles be construed as being suggestive of a tendency to lean in that direction.

Yeah, that's a fair point.

Must have missed that. Still, i think some criticism can be leveled toward that continent without racism being involved.

If people want to live like primitive barbaric non-advancing animals, then they are monkeys. I could also say that about ancient celts or vikings or visigoths. Perhaps I should have said 'mon-keigh'. That had nothing to do with skin color.

If there was a European or Caucasian culture behaving like Vikings in the modern world, we would be equally disgusted, and fully within our rights to judge them as 'primitive' by our standards.

Maybe there's a reason why they aren't spending money on us to solve our problems, but we can somehow manage to make this halfassed academic study to help solve theirs.

Again going back to my father, he ate hungarian, romanian and budapest-ian food for a week and a half straight then grabbed "strawberries and cream" (gloppy milk and strawberries, basically) at a London airport and threw up for two days straight

Calling Africans monkeys is not "culturalism." It's just plain old racism. There are plenty of ways of making your argument without resorting to evoking centuries of scientific racism and theories on why it's okay to enslave and murder Africans on account of them being more monkey than human. Seriously, just don't do it. It's unnecessary, it makes you look really, really racist, and it's stupid.

As to your point, African culture is diverse, multifaceted, and not easily dismissed. There are many problems in Africa, but often these problems do not originate in African culture, they originate in the history of colonialism and oppression of Africa by Europe. Africa is a continent that has suffered greatly at the hands of other countries over the last few centuries, and one shouldn't readily dismiss the consequences of that history when diagnosing Africa's issues.

Whoa lads, let's not get into this quickly. Sure, it'll be a blast, but it could be over all too soon and then everyone involved will be left dissatisfied. If we pump the thread full of dick jokes it'll be locked down faster than a shotgun wedding. Let's learn from our African friends and keep it clean.

The problem is that research in this area just doesn't have the staff to work effectively, and often lacks a strong head, as well.

Now would be the time to stop with this line of talk and actually try to have some fun with the subject. The thread is about dick washing, not whether or not colonialism is the root cause of female genital mutilation.

Just some friendly advice.

We don't want to go running off into another racial argument all cockamamie.

Working in such a widely-stretched region really affects how much focus and sensitivity we can apply to the effort as well. Africa is full of small countries but they've all seen a lot of hardship.

Why do you think that people in Africa either live like animals or want to?

You'd think they would have checked if penis washing was actually effective at preventing HIV transmission first, wouldn't you. I mean, then you'd know if the men's attitude towards it was actually important, in the grand scheme of things.

Sent the following to my Senator:

Feds Spent $800,000 of Economic Stimulus on African Genital-Washing Program

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/75198

Senator Cornyn,

Surely this has to be a joke, a nasty fabrication to make the Obama Administration look absolutely inept. Given the myriad of special interest investments, political handouts, and insulting intrusions into private lives, I’m resigned to the likelihood that, in terms President Obama can understand, this is par for the course.

How is it that the Stimulus Bill had to be passed within that very week it was introduced lest the economy should crumble, leaving American citizens in a post apocalyptic nightmare, is still unspent to the tune of tens of billions of dollars nearly two years after it’s signing into law?

Why is money meant to stimulate the US economy and stem the tide of unemployment being spent abroad? Why is it being spent abroad on projects and programs that have no impact on the US economy?

Congress and the Executive Branch need look no further than this article to find the source of the current ire amongst the citizens of this Country. Where the focus should be attacking the problem of unemployment and a hobbled economy, some entity within the halls of power is more concerned with South African Genitalia

Heh, that was Jacob Zuma's response when people pointed out that he'd had unprotexted sex with an HIV positive women: He said he'd had a shower afterwards, so it was cool.

Mind you, if Obama's campaign theme song had been "Bring Me My Machine Gun" he probably could have gotten the NRA onside.

That said, let's not give Guitardian a hard time about being a racist. It's not his fault that he isn't well-endowed with the good sense to realize the impotency of such a position. Racism isn't simply denigrating people for the colour of their skin, it's about over-generalizing. If people here read more African daily news instead of the stuff that gets drip fed to audiences here as being weird enough to make interesting news, then I'd bet you people like Guitardian wouldn't be such spankers. Something to consider before you think of being a dick.

Sure, and I'm not interested in getting into another argument about racism. But when someone says something like "African monkey culture," I feel obligated to say something. I don't want to tacitly approve of that kind of hateful rhetoric and thereby give someone (perhaps of African origin) the impression that Dakka Dakka is the kind of place where people think Africans are monkeys. This is not, last time I checked, stormfront.org.
