Subject: Re:If you could, which language would you like to learn?
Ive always in the back of my mind, thought about becoming a full Catholic priest, and so thought Latin would be a cool language to learn. Also thought about German and Chinese since they are going to merge with America some day

Not had chance to delve into them TOO deeply, mind.

Learning the correct names is a good place to start...
Boo fething hoo. Chinese language as used in American vernacular is synomonous with Mandarin Chinese. Hindu/Hindi, oops I got a letter wrong. Arabic is the correct term. Go learn the forum rules !

I'd like to learn Arabic. It would give a foot in to intelligence services and the like, which is something I think about when dreaming of impractical career changes.
I've got no talent for languages, though. I did German in highschool for my mandatory language class in year 8, and despite German being just shouty English, I got absolutely nowhere. I suspect learning a genuinely different language like Arabic or Hindi might be completely beyond me.

Angry man is angry.
In other news I'm no certain Hindi will be that necessary. The level of English in India is really high, and if you need to speak to an Indian who doesn't speak English, there's a fair chance he doesn't speak Hindi either.

To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

You wouldn't be relying on 'everyone' speaking English. You'd be accepting that many Indians from the upper and middle classes speak English, and those that do not often don't speak Hindi. If one wanted to gain better access to India through language, you might be better off learning an Indian language other than Hindi.

Calm down, sweetheart. I was only kidding around.

Yep. Whilst it would be nice to speak Hindi, English strikes me as a safer bet. Unless you want to also learn Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu etc.
I've never met an Indian that hasn't spoken perfect English, but then I suppose that's to be expected.
