Oh yeah I forgot about that. I'm changing the name anyway.

The Fall of a Beast.

Everyone makes mistakes, that is well-known but what you never hear about is the poor sucker who has to clean up. When a planetary governor lures a swarm of ravenous aliens plantside cleanup falls onto my shoulders… Hard.


The trenches were splattered with blood and alien ichor. Heavy stubbers blazed away splattering the chittering bugs over no-mans-land.
As a large alien “carnifex” falls dead, it’s cranium pulverized by a shot from the heavy caliber weapon. Sergeant Takan Holt pats the gunner heartily on the back.
“Nice shot son.” He shouts over the din.
“Thank you sir!” the gunner replies never, pulling off the trigger.
“Poor boy can’t be older than sixteen and he’s already seeing things that would give me a shock.” Holt thought to himself.
He fired a shot into the roiling mass of alien bodies. The lasbolt found it’s mark and another gaunt (the single minded foot soldier of the swarm) dropped only to be replaced by another equally menacing one.
“They just keep coming don’t they” Holt shouted to no one in particular.
Holt watched as a huge swath of aliens was blown from existence by a Basilisk siege gun. Of the half dozen that were deployed at the beginning of the battle overlooking the battle only three were left the rest were smoking wrecks, their hulls riddled with holes where alien acid had punched through the armor.
“We’re going to need a miracle to get out of this” Holt muttered to himself. “and here it comes.”
A man in a black trench coat was striding down the trench, ducking occasionally to avoid a stream of alien acid. The Commissar made his way to Takan’s Heavy Stubber emplacement.
“Sir!” a guardsman nervously saluted.
“Takan” the guardsman shouted, avoiding the glances of the guardsmen who wondered why someone of his rank would be in the trenches.
“The left flank has collapsed” he continued “pull your men out and fall back to the city walls take up defensive positions there.”
“But sir!”
“That’s an order sergeant we don’t need to lose any more lives to these things! Now fall back!”
The commissar walked off to spread the news, his retinue trotting behind him.
“Uggh.” Everyone fall back the left flank has collapsed! We need to get to the gates!”
The soldiers didn’t know what to do they just stood there confused.
“Now!” that got them started. They hurtled through the trenches ducking low when a guardsman’s skin was melted by acid. He died in agony as his flesh was turned into a bubbly black soup. Holt and his squad kept on running.
“I can see the gates. Just a little more.” Holt wheezed
“Sir, the gaunts they are in the trenches!” A guardsman shouted.
Holt turned back to watch as a living wave of gaunts crashed into the trenches.
They sprinted towards the first food source they could find, Holt’s ten fleeing guardsmen.
“Run boys run!” Holt shouted.
They started running double time, jumping over bodies of friend and foe. The fleeing guardsmen hurtled through the trenches.
“Sir the gates are closing! We need to get there fast!”
The gate was less than one hundred meters away but it felt like a mile.
“We’re not gonna make it!”
It was then that Holt saw hope. Two Ogryns were pushing the wreckage of a Leman Russ battle tank in between the two colossal metal doors. The strain on the chassis was visible but it was all that they need. The guardsmen scrambled over the tank and pelted the gap. The boy who had been manning the Stubber jumped in without a moment to spare as the great metal doors closed with a clang, squishing the Leman Russ and any other alien that didn’t make it out of the way.
After a head count Holt went up to the boy, who was still shaking, and gave him a hearty pat on the back.
“Good job son” He said gruffly.
“Thank you sir.” He said awkwardly “well uhm sir.”
“Yes”
“Not to be disrespectful but now what”
“What do you mean?”
“Well I mean we’re surrounded by vicious man eating aliens with no way out what are we gonna do.”
“I don’t know yet but when I figure it out you will be the first to know.”



Chapter 2

Holt helped the medic tend to the wounded then walked up the steps to the top of the wall there he saw what they were up against.
A living sea of gaunts and carnifexes through themselves at the city walls but couldn’t penetrate the two yard thick ceramite armour. The tyranids died in droves, their bodies burned to ashes by flame through emplacements in the walls.
“Emperor help us” Holt muttered. He made his way along the wall helping where he could, refilling ammo stores or tending to wounded guardsmen.
“You’ll be alright son just stay off that shoulder.” Holt said patching up a guardsman who had taken a shot to the arm.
“Thank you sir. I was trying to get to cover but…” The wounded soldier trailed off.
“It’s fine we’ve all been there.”
Holt was just getting up when a voxcaster shouted his name. “Holt! Holt Takan!”
Holt walked over to the soldier with the radio mounted on is back. “Yes son, what is it?”
“The Commisar wants to see you.”
“Oh does he now.”
“Yep the order comes straight from the top.”
“Where is he?”
“Bunker A-fifteen he’s sending a Chimera transport to pick you up.”
“E.T.A?”
“5 minutes.”
Six minutes later Takan was speeding through a ruined city. The bombed out shell of the outskirts brought back memories of past battlefields.
“What happened here?” He asked looking out the window at the burned out landscape.
“A couple landers got shot out of the sky,” The gunner responded solemnly “burned down the outskirts before being quelled. I’m not sure how many of civies got out in time but the rest well…” he trailed off, not wanting to consider the alternative.
It took another three minutes to get to the bunker.
The bark of autocannons could be heard before the bunker could be seen. Driving up Holt saw where they were coming from. Two Hydra Flak turns were firing into the sky, their gunners making a deadly net of bullets that not even the most agile of the flying tyranid organisms could avoid.

Okay super mega trio of transports update.

All three rhino/razorbacks are done.

That freehand is very nice. Just needs some tidying up, and you are golden!

Very nice freehand but I'm a little confused, when you say your tanks are done are you referring just to the freehand because if not they need a lot more detailing.

Well the bodies are done not the turrets

Ah ok, I personally think the bodies need a little more detailing including the tracks and exhausts and also the driver's windows.

But as I said the freehand is ace.

Agreed. I can freehand with my a pencil but not with a brush funny how I can draw perfectly well. Yet when I try and paint i fail....

Actually I draw on the design then paint over it.

I like how this is coming along but as someone already said they look allot like white scars. Can I suggest adding one other colour into the mix, a blue maybe? Keep up the good work

@Asherian Command Just a normal pencil you can't see it once it has paint on it.
@vodo40k If I add another color it eould be a very light green or some Black/gray.

like your freehand designs , very banksy! , I also like your white marines i cant paint white very well , so congrats on that. , and i would say nice fluff , but i get tired of the same old army talk , no offence , but i suppose thats what marines sound like, though.

I think an autumn look would go well with the red. I think the snow will just make your army look like a white blob coming after your opponent. Plus fall type foliage is not seen very often and it will help the army stand out. You could go with something as simple as some clump foliage or maybe something more complex with fallen leaves made from dried herbs.

Dried herbs you say, How would that work?

I did a army of WHFB Wood Elves for my cousin once that is a autumn scheme. I did a little bit of googling and I found this: http://media.photobucket.com/image/warhammer%20basing%20herbs%20wood%20elves/anardakil/DSC00003.jpg

This is a pretty close match to what I did. You simply base it as normal and then add small amounts of PVA to which you put larger dried herbs on. I think I used basil....or maybe oregano.

Does that make sense?

EDIT: The only thing is that it might not look alien enough for 40K. Perhaps if it was combined with sharp jutting red rocks or something.

SUPER HUGE UPDATE:
Sorry for the long period between posts guys but I've been pretty busy with commisions, school, reach , and the like but with christmas break upon me I finally have freetime . While I've been away I have accomplished many a hobby thingamajig. So without further ado...
I got a landraider crusader and a predator on an ebay auction only problem being the left side sponson arm broke off and the guy sent me 2 right side sposons But for fifty bucks for the pair I really can't complain.
In other news I worked on a squad to hang in a razorback (they are just test models.)
And finally I worked on Lugft Huron.
(sorry some of the pics are kind of $!%# I had to use a crappy camera)

Ooh look! Mr Huron in a snowstorm JK, he looks great from what I can see of him. Did you try taking a picture of him from further away? And obviously it looks like your cameras macro setting either was not working or did not have one. (small flower icon, but I am sure you already know that)

The freehand is very very nice on those tanks although the eagle on the LR really breaks up the lions face too much. Is the eagle attached? If not I would remove it and should look even better.

(I also say that an autumn base would go very well with these guys as it will make them stand out a lot)
