Kid_Kyoto wrote:My wife is from Japan and has never seen the films. So far I've gotten her to sit through SW and Empire. Keep in mind English is her second language and she's seeing them under duress but she remembers the characters as 'blond hero' 'princess' 'the dog' gold robot' 'yogi' and as of the end of Empire 'frozen man'.

My wife's first Star Wars film was Phantom Menace. She got back from the Movie Theatre and just raved about it. She even bought the souvenir Japanese programme! I told her I knew all about it and that there were other movies. She didn't believe me. So, we went down to Tsutaya and we rented Star Wars on video (back in the stone age). When Darth Vader appeared I said "That's Anakin. That's the little boy when he grows up." She didn't believe me at first, but then she just cried. Too weird.

My wife's perception of LOTR is similar to your wife's of Star Wars. There is Frodo, gay lover, oto san (my dad has a long white beard, Gandalf), LIV TYLER, Orlando Bloom, midget, and other guy (Aragorn). To be fair, I do the same with anything she watches too. Like Sex in the City, there is the horse faced one, the fat one, the red head and the other one.

What i am at least excited about, is that my kids will be old enough to watch the movies (at home... the original versions) and i will have to bring them to the theater... 3d or not.... simply so they can watch them on the big screen. I remember when the re-masters came out and i got to see them on the big screen, and Star Wars went from great to AMAZING, and cemented my fandom for life. I am not trying to force a similar experience on my kids, but the movies should be seen on the big screen.

Sex and the City yeah, I remember them as the shallow one, the cute one, the slut and the other one.

She made me google how much it would cost to have a wedding at the NY Public Library. $50k for starters. I wonder how much the Flushing Public Library goes for...

Anyway Star Wars, yay Star Wars.

Lately I'm spending a lot more on Star Wars minis (RIP) than 40k.

The ship game was fun but too simplified.

The 28mm game works both as a competative 'build a squad' thing and as a schenario game. I'm liking it.
