This is the model I had leftover to try it on.

After the basecoat I noticed the mold lines, but couldn't be bothered removing them as it would make it take ages.

Then drybrush Boltgun Metal.

Three semi-heavy coats of Asurmen Blue wash later.

It's still drying at the moment as I took that picture just after the latest wash so might need one more, but maybe not.

Looks good. Now finish the model, it would be really cool to see someone fielding an old version plastic marine.

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch

Crusading deep in the Eastern Fringe.

It looks a tad bit too smurfy for my tastes, but it is by no means a bad color scheme. To go that extra mile, knightly crosses and heraldry and whatnot would distinguish them from UM more while still keep that connection. You can listen to this if you really want to; I'm just suggesting this because I am a Templar myself.

Firstly I want to say, your records in your sig, are the first battle records that seem more realistic then anyone elses Ive seen (barring the few like Dash of peppers, I mean the guy can kick ass what can you say) But Im always annoyed by people posting their battle scores and everyone seems to win 8x more games then they lose/draw at. Just too far fetched if ya ask me. So thanks for that

Onto the marines, I like the color scheme you went with. I think if you mess around with not_U's ideas you could make a really nice looking army for sure. Good luck and post some pics when you get that far

wow the slver trim and white emblem made a world of difference on the model. Id also consider adding more orange in the marine....but just a little bit. Perhaps the purity seals can be orange or you can paint one of the knees orange. Definately go with the second paint scheme though. I think you could either paint the aquilla white or silver

@mad: It's on the first page.

If you want capes on them all just use greenstuff. Whatwhat has a good tutorial for it here.

But it actually doesn't have to be that complex. Just get a single piece and roll it flat, then place it on the model and shape it with sculpting tools. Never touch it with your fingers as you will leave finger prints on it and wet the tools from time to time to stop the greenstuff from sticking to the tools. Keep in mind the general direction the model seems to be moving in a make sure the cape flows the correct direction with it.
