My CSM follow a chaos god/daemon of my own invention, he's thie deity of hypocrisy. I'm not sure if there already exists a god with that domain, maybe Malal? Might be a stretch though.

Edit: That time god is giving me some big steam punk vibes

Lol this reminds me of the Chaos God of Atheism, where worshipping him weakens him, and not worshipping him also kills him. Probably died a horrible horrible death now....

Malal is the Chaos God of Betrayel. He represents Chaos against itself. However no one knew who actually owned the trademark on him so GW just silently dropped him.

And if you have a god of Age, you should name him Baraggan!

Malal is the ultimate Chaos god - he represents the undoing of everything and returning the universe to absolute chaos and anarchy.

The other chaos gods require intelligent beings to have the emotions that give them power, Malal doesn't

Malal will accept human worshipers so long as they oppose the Chaos gods, he is very subtle and subversive since he could easily beguile servants of the Emperor or other Lawful types gods, in a way he is like the Christian Devil since he wants to undo all of creation, and has no particular allies or need of them.

GW dropped Malal over copyright questions but since he(?) appeared in the GW fluff way back when, he is a valid choice for a Chaos patron.

I did a CSM army around Malal, the Jieshi Is'Malal - you can read their fluff at http://www.iceriverguards.info

Sort of. During the War in Heaven, the Nightbringer seeded the Young Races with the terror of mortality. He became the very personification of death for these races; Kaelis Ra for the Eldar, the Grim Reaper for humanity, and many more besides. The only species that escaped this curse was the Orks, which goes some way towards explaining their mindset.
However, the Nightbringer, being a C'tan, is not thing of chaos.

Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

Runnin up on ya.

The great maw from WHFB ogre kingdoms would make an excellent 40k chaos god.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

The question that remains unanswered, despite being asked many times, is what emotion does [god's name] feed off of? Why would someone turn to him?

Khorne feeds off anger and fury. His followers pledge themselves for the exercise of power and a taste for blood.

Slaanesh feeds off pleasure. His followers pledge themselves for exposure to sensations previously undiscovered.

Nurgle feeds off desperation. His followers pledge themselves for protection or a desire to belong.

Tzeentch feeds off hope. His followers pledge themselves for greater influence and control.

You've barely told us even the slightest hint of this god's personality except that he has sweet clock demons and makes armor stronger through rusting.

All men fear the march of time.

so would one pledge themselves to this chaos god to become the thing they fear most and become immune to it?

I imagined the chaos god time would have worpshippers who would plunder worlds for ancient artifacts and new technology, all so that they would be the ones who would own it.

What about a god of greed and gluttony? It would be akin to the hive mind in that increasing its mass is a main objective, but unlike Slaanesh it does not endeavour to savour every thing it comes across, merely to consume for the sake of growing and hoarding.
It's demons could be bloated creatures that eat the best a world has to offer, spewing the remains into the immaterium where their god consumes it.
Dragon type creatures with their instinct to hoard could also be associated with this god, human cults would be devoted to theft and creating piles of wealth in the hopes a demon will appear to claim it for their god and so forth.

So basically, the Great Maw....

More than the Maw though, it consumes anything of value, so precious metals, food stocks, gems, artwork, crops, nutrients in the soil; but it doesn't just consume, it also hoards wealth too.

It occurs to me that the Great Maw may simply be the best the simpleton Ogres can comprehend of this larger chaos god. They form cults that worship one aspect of the god, other races have a truer understanding of what the god represents and how to interact with it.

How about a Chaos God of art?

Insane, nonsensical and very brutal art.

At first, he seems nice enough. A muse for whoever gets in contact with him. But then it gets worse.

He starts demanding you to do some specific paintings/songs/whatever. And then doing them in blood and other bodily fluids.

And then he starts mutating the Warp you of you and gives you the idea that now you're his very own piece of art. And the worst? You feel honoured.

And then he tells you killing is an art. And tells you to do it. So you do. And you will like it.

Kthx.

One thing do, how is a god of time well... evil? So you cant call him a chaos god because the chaos gods are nurgle, slaneesh, tzeench and khorne. There are other minor deaties in the warp but these are the only so called chaos gods. If you whant proof that such gods exist read heroes of the space marines, there is a short story called the labyrinth there. Its about space marines who are renegade and worship a god called malice, and they actually manage to summon him so i cant imagine hes very powerful but he was descibed as huge, as if a shadow with baleful red eyes
