Wracks: I am using the ghouls I had made to go with the old codex's "Groetesques." They are simple conversions - blades in place of hands or three-fingered claws like the old grotesque models with the rounded ears shaved to look pointy. They're easy and cheap and serve their purpose well. Plus, they're already done, so no work/money spent on them at this point.

Grotesques: I have different plans for these guys. For Christmas I am expecting a box of Ork Nobz. I plan on doing some conversion on them and throwing them on a 40mm base to represent their "bulky" rule. Since a Nob is enormous next to a slender DE, I figure they will capture the look efficiently. With some greenstuff, guitar strings, and modified Chaos Warriors heads (shaved horns and such), I believe I will be able to achieve the look that I am going for.

On a side note....
The rat ogre conversions are incredibly good and if not for my completed Christmas list, I might change my tactics and use some of those guys instead. I do think they may be a little over-sized, though. I pictured the grotesques to be the size of a terminator which is why I am going the nob+40mm route. They are - after all - created from Dark Eldar.

The Privateer Press Warmachine models are outstanding stand-ins for wracks. The only problem is that they will not be tourny-legal and even though I never play in tournaments, I like knowing that I always can.

Anyway...that's my two cents! Good luck.

Re: plasticard injectors...
Yeah. That's one way of doing it. Definitely something I considered. I just... Well, with all the time I'm putting into these, already, I was hoping to just be able to find a bit and run with it.

While looking through my mini collection for something Friday night, I came across an old metal ral partha sprue. It came with some sort kit. The metal sprue has 7 beakers, 1 "test tube, 5 pots and a smaller beaker "set" of 3 that, when attached to a model and painted right, might just look a LOT like injectors. So, I'm considering that.

I pictured the grotesques to be the size of a terminator which is why I am going the nob+40mm route. They are - after all - created from Dark Eldar.

That isn't necessarily true. The fluff in the new codex is very unspecific about it. It says, "Though they generally begin their existence as Dark Eldar..." (emphasis mine).
Don't get me wrong... I am not making light of your idea. I look forward to seeing it.
Just pointing out that there's room for them NOT to have originated as DE.

Right - it has been awhile since I have read the entry, so I went back and did again. It actually uses the word "monstrous" to describe them too. An Eldar can easily explain an 8' science experiment this way, but I certainly see your point. I am rethinking my idea and may use the Rat Ogre's as Abberations. I dunno. How big are they compared to a nob? They look like they are about the size of a chaos spawn.

I have used Flagellant legs with Crypt Ghoul bodies and arms.
The lower arm and hand have been replaced with Wych arms (just the gauntlet) and blades.
The heads have been GSed into masks and I have added some horns from various CSM helmets and backpacks to the Wrack backs.

I have trown in a few Tyranid, Skaven and Beastmen arms for for diversity.

the models will be out soon. Hope they look like they do in the codex.

I don't know how big they are, now, compared to a Nob, but think about this... AFAIK, the only models to take up 2 spots in a transport are Terminators, Meganobz and Grotesques. That I can recall off-hand, no other unit in the game does that. So, they've got to be pretty darned bulky.
I think spawn "seem" right, by comparing the models to the images in the codex.

I looked at the rat ogres conversion in the previously posted link. While I think the guy did an INCREDIBLE job with them (and I LOVE the look of the one holding the Dark Lance on the prow of the Raider), I just think the Rato Ogre models are way too big.
Of course, you can probably get ahold of those a bit cheaper than Spawn!

I just placed an order for 3 kits that I think I can get about 20 Wracks out of.
I ordered the Empire Flagellants, Crypt Gouls and (wait for it... wait for it...) a box of pink horrors.

Those Pink Horrors have some great arms!

I may have to greenstuff some sort of lower body covering (pants, etc) onto ghoul or (more likely) Horror legs, but that's okay.
I'm looking forward to getting them and hammering a couple out.

I hope I can get at least 20 out of it. I'm gonna be kinda pissed if I bought $75 worth of kits for 10 models. LOL
