I was planning a game store, but gave up on the idea because I know unless I win the lottery I'll never be able to get enough money together to open the kind of store I'd want to do, and also can't afford to live on less than minimum wage for the years it will take to start turning a profit.

But, I was gonna call my place "D6 Games and Hobbies".. with the idea that when I open a 2nd store, it would be called 2D6, then 3D6 and on and on.

I was also gonna have custom cheesex dice made with the D6 logo on them for the 6 side, and toss a D6-D6 in the bag when people buy stuff over a certain amount, like maybe $50+. Just as a promotional thing and when you collect 6, you can turn them in for a discount on your purchase that day and you'll roll your 6 D6-D6's and that's the discount you got

It would have been a percent off But if you save up a lot of dice you only get to redeem them once a day and only 6 at a time

Everything was going to be full price but I was thinking of special things like that for discounts. Also for kids in school they'd get a report card discount for every A, birthday discounts, etc.

For all of that stuff though you would have to be a member of the store's loyalty club kinda thing, which would really just be for marketing so I can send email ads and stuff like that to people that actually want to get them.

You could ask your business partners for ideas

I will, This is strictly for my own notes when I am ready to share my own stuff..

I also REALLY Liked the war table suggestion. That is a pretty good name!

@necros

Sounds like a neat idea. Because of their being about 4 owners probably in the beginning. ( so long as everyone is still in it in three years from now. ) we should be able to work out a schedule where we have side jobs. Depending on the hours depends on who covers what times of the day during the week. Also sharing an appartment and splitting rent is an idea we are having so living will be easier.

That way we try to find decent jobs and take nothing from the store for the first few to several years until we are able to chain out. Of course making backup plans in case things go slower than we thought they would.

Also...on a side note (Nothing all that special or important.) Its not like we will turn down "everyone" who wants to join in on us so long as we do not go overboard with it and have like a bunch of other extra people. So after we get store 1 running and saving for store 2, I am sure the others will be open to the idea of maybe 2 others joining us as partners.

'Mordor'

I always thought that would be a fitting name for a game shop, even though it would mean that one couldn't merely walk into the shop.

I personally liked slice and dice, and D6 Games. They both sounded really friendly and what not.

I know where you can get an awesome animatronic giant spider to chase customers into your shop. Or deter them from leaving. Better sell snacks and sodas too.

The dice for discount idea was done at the Adventurer's guild in Harrisburg PA. They had a sale where you could have either 20% off or roll percent dice for your discount; but you had to abide by the roll. I got 48%!
