It's going to have to be really bad for me to not like Giant-Robot-Alien-Explosion Movie though.

As I said earlier, I respect you (and indeed anyone) for making your own call. Actually mildly embarrassed that I've switched some people off seeing it , but on balance I think most people would rather save the money for something else. I hope you do get something out of it

I would say that if the US TV spots for the movie are anything like ours (big aerial battles with drone fighters vs alien spaceships), then they are pretty deceptive. The tone of the film is more Cloverfield than Independence Day.

Dont really think the Battle LA looks that great either to be honest, Mainly cos of what looks like lacklustre alien design. Judging from the trailer to 'Skyline' you should at least give the guys credit for some awesome effects which judging from the actors were achieved on a tiny budget. They should do a movie where the invaders turn out to look just like us...

Okay, unsubscribing from thread to avoid accidental spoilers. I may go see it this evening, so I'll be back soon!

I saw it, and...well it wasn't District 9(which I loved), I did not think it was as bad as some critics portrayed it to be. I mean it got PANNED, but that's just my 2 cents, don't listen if you don't wanna...

I saw it on Thursday night.

The only thing I disliked was the unkillability of the aliens. I can understand why they did it, BUT with no hope for the cast, why the hell should I invest any interest in them, as they will all surely end up dead.

The way I see it, if you can kill, I mean REALLY kill a cockroach, then anything in the Universe should be killable

Went and saw it and pretty much agree with the review except for one point. The "Stealth Bombers" in the air attack were not B-2's or F-117's but instead Northrup Grumman X-47b UCAV's, a vehicle currently undergoing flight testing.

It is the new in thing to have only unlikable (at best) characters in science fiction movies and TV.

Given the aliens did have squishy parts (the brains) they should have been killable. I haven't seen the movie, what gets me is sometimes you have to hit something several fething times before it figures out it suppose to dead, I referring to the big ship only getting nuke once. When the repair bots start scurrying over and repairing would have been a great time to nuke it again to wipe them out. More dramatic to have the aliens successfully fending off every aerial attack including couple to several additional nukes detonating (airburst and ground burst) just out of range of the ship while the repairs are completed.

After watching BattleLA trailer I wonder why hollywood keeps thinking that deploying US troops in chopters in an hostile LZ AND through enemy airplanes is doable?
WW2 taught how a bad idea that was.

I was thinking about Crete and Market Garden where the parachutist troops where put in the middle of enemy formations and the following waves could not reach them.
