meph is not an IC, he is an individual model, allowing him to be picked off by himself by ranged fire and he has to be transported by himself, so that was done wrong. Most BA players do this wrong at first as he's like the only individual model that isn't a large base MC of some sort in the game up to that codex XD.
You cant really rely on staying out of assault range against stormravens and the like, you really need those screens of crappy bugs to absorb assaults and make sure you can do what you want, not just react to what he does.

Interesting. I'm going to try and read more about them. Blood claws also seemed a bit.... strong punchy to my facemeats.

Blood claws are space wolves.
they are just assualt squads (1 attack each + 2 cc) with furious charge (if with a sanguinary priest) and FNP (if with priest)
priests are elites and he can take up to 9, they are IC's. they get pretty expensive if he gives them packs and puts one in each squad.
they can be pretty vicious, yes.
the real problem as you noticed is with his extreme speed he can dictate what combats who and make sure all the lineups are favorable, this is why you needed those screens I kept suggesting, he will assault and wipe them out, but then /you/ get to decide what that dreadnaught is fighting and where those assault squads are going.

No, the thing the death co dread does. blood talons?
the ones that let him keep rerolling wounds. We played that if he caused a wound, that made another hit. On 3+, he hit, and then if he wounded, he got more attacks. per wound. Rerolling wounds.
I allowed it, since he's both due for wins and I want one. That thing got like 8 wounds out of three attacks. how the hell does that happen?

Yep, blood talons
he hits some things (not all) on a 3, and is S6, every unsaved wound causes another attack, and on and on and on.

See the ugly thing is a properly tailored Blood Angels force against Nids has next to nothing to do with I5, S5, FNP charging marines and everything to do with extra-cheap heavy weapons (BA get them cheaper than C:SM), discount Razorbacks w/ Lucifer Engines, and fast Vindicators.

To elaborate a little more Death Company Tycho and The Sanguinor also lack the independent character rule. In the case of Meph and the Sanguinor their rules help with making them survive being out on their own. Death Company Tycho seems like a buffet for most armies...
Blood Angels can be built up many different ways. The best advise for future matches with the army is get familiar with the units in the book.
Cheers,

Oooooooh... you "allooooowed it?" Since it was played right after all, I am glad you allowed it. Cry-ni-fexed.
Blood Talons: Act as lightning claws. So they re-roll wounds. Each unsaved wound, allows an additional attack. All attacks would be resolved using the models close combat profile which is "Blood Talons"
I also confirmed it with Scott the GM at the GW store in Tomball today, while picking up another Dred. Muahahahaha!
I have to say that although I know that the BA is fairly broken, it felt good to cheese it up for anight, instead of my standard. Tactical moving, range guessing, rapid firing, non-assaulting Vanilla SMs for a night.

Took out a whole unit of shrikes and the venom cannons. Dropped some warriors and swapped in 2 Zoanthropes for a unit of hive guard. Some genestealers got fired. Carnifex and harpy got added to the list, very shooty versions of both.
Most importantly, the swarmlord became a Old Adversary Tyrant. Cheaper, has a LW/BS, AND a TL dev. I love s6 shooting on a monstrous creature that also gets to shoot paroxysm at the unit hes about to destroy.
Briematch a success. We abused the rules much less this time around, and my opponent once again felt the wrath of what is apparently some kind of gypsy dice curse. Terminators flying in and out of cover take a dangerous test. I've never seen so many ones. It was seriously really bad.
