How about this?

For the netting, i use a standard field dressing, like the one in your link. But it only gets thin when its stretched.

I think the problem is that it looks fine on a real life tank, but looks odd on a miniature where the texture of the cloth is so much more apparent. I would use something closer to actual linens for the tank, as it will better reflect what the real tanks are using on a miniature scale.

Right now it looks like a tank covered in a potato sack :(

Well except for the RPG railings, and the engine exhaust on the back(not shown).

And it would be alot easier without the sponsons

Oh true, I only looked at the thumbnail sorry. The point still holds, however: from a distance (or in a tiny pic) it's barely noticeable on the Leopards, whereas given the thickness of what you have on the LR atm, that would translate to carpet a foot thick or so IRL. Given how much mud and/or water something like that could hold, you're looking at actualy impeding the mobility of the tank. IMO, surgical gauze in the best - really thin, so it's appropriate at 28mm scale. As long as there is enough draped on to break up the angular profile of the tank, you can still see the sculpted detail on the plastic underneath.

It's your tank though .

I'm really digging this! The reference material really brings a sense of reality to the army, the camo scheme is awesome and the leman russ (I think its that? DE player here...) looks fantastic with the covers. Brilliant. Subscribed.

Thanks for all your comments, and yes i can see what some of you are saying about it looking like a big potato sack, but i think im gonna finish it, and hope it will look better when it have gotten some wash and drybrush over it... if not, we just call it a test model and praise ourselves for not ruining on of the new LR kits

Cant exactly get my hands on chicken wire where i am, and besides I think its way too big... some small wire mesh mayby. But right now my only option is the gauze.

The issue is the texture. My recomendation is to try tape or paper. A brown paper bag would work with its rougher fibers, or well crumpled paper flattened out.

Well, i got a bit bored and then distracted, which unfortunately happens quite easily, so i bashed together a small diorama-ish diorama. Nothing fancy, but just something i had left over in my meagre bits box.
Thinking of painting it in traditional guard colours of some sort, as the models dont really fit together with my other Danish Guard units.
But as you can barely see in the background, ive started on my CMD squad and HW teams.
