Just watched it, and I think the animation was just fine. Sufficient to tell the story and pretty cool looking in bits. Definitely nowhere near as bad as it was made out to be!

Where it fell down for me was with pacing. The plot was straightforward and decent enough, but they spent too long on lots of little bits that really weren't that interesting. A second too long here, a segment that did nothing to advance the plot there, it added up to a lot of bloat.
The CSM were not that scary or interesting as baddies either, we really got nothing of their character. The Ultras seemed snotty too- not that heroic.
Overall it's okay, and probably worth buying to see if they make another one with some of these problems fixed.

As an Ultramarine commander -I'm deeply offended. They fail to capture their wonderful-fluff. And in a show of protest I will NOT be painting a single solitary soldier in gold-trim -2nd EDITION PAINT JOBS FOR EVERYONE!

I think that they should have done IG instead of ultramarines.
It would have solved a lot of the fluff problems (survivability, body proportions, we can actually relate to them since they are ordinary humans fighting unspeakable horrors)

I think the animators should have just CHEATED and given some of the Space Marines a LITTLE hair. To make it just a bit easier to tell them apart.
