It is a sneaky way to sneak more Land Raiders into an army, though. I wish my codex were updated so that I could do the same.

I think, SoloFalcon1138, we wish for a mild RetCon back to MArch of 2007 and for perhaps, SW or BAs to have been the experiment of "Hey, let's see how we should change a SM chapter for 5e."

Instead, DAs were picked as guinea pigs.
<--- Yes, this qualifies as "whining about how badly my favorite army was nerfed by the next codex" ... 3 years later!

Well, criminy, I do own like 4k worth of termies (nicely painted SpaceHulk termie, there SoloFalcon!).

Okay, rant/bitching/complaining over.

You're talking apocalypse games here at which point the foc table goes out the window and so whether someone can field 14, 18 or more is irrelevant, you can't field them in a normal game as the points don't exist to spend on them.

Standard Games have no upper points limit(other than that decided between the opponents).

If you have a few days free to devote to the Game, the requisite models/gaming area, and a willing Friend/opponent, you can Play games of up to a million points(I know of only 1 army that can get to 1 million without running out of FoC slots: Chaos Marines). So yes in a Normal Game the BA Player can field 17 LRs, and do so in games as low as 5890 points.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

In fact, I believe taking minimum assault squads, and the 240pt LR, you can fit 6 into a normal 2k point game and have 230 pts to spend elsewhere (pretty much just an HQ).

In regards to landraiders:

Only 170; so yes just an HQ and 70 points worth of gear to spread around... may not be too bad of an army to be honest.

Another thing to think about.

If you take Kahn in your army, it allows all dedicated transports to outflank, Thus your two land raider taken as dedicated transports may out flank as well.

You can only have 3 Elite choices and a land raider that is dedicated to termies counts as a separate Elites choice so you could only field 4 of them

DTs don't don't take up any slots. 1 Terminator squad and 1 Terminator Assault Squad per army may take a LR as a DT.

No, that is very wrong!

Yeah, 2 LRs for Dedicated Terminator Transports and 3 Heavy Support Choices is 5 Land Raiders.

Now and forever.

This is wrong on so many levels.

DT's count as nothing when making a FoC.
They count as the unit type they were taken for while in-game. This affects DoW deployment, kill points, and some battle missions/scenarios where unit type is important.

No, please read page 67 (from memory) on dedicated transports.

A dedicated transport takes up NO slots at all

I think it pretty obvious that the rules don't allow 14 Land Raiders to be fielded in a normal game because the points cost would be exceeded. This of course would be against the rules and "Because this is the rules forum" I should think that would be considered.

I wouldn't class such games as normal. By normal I mean the most commonly played which is a few hours. Frankly who could be bothered playing a million points anyway? You'd be better off going epic and even then the equivalent would be massive. Stupid debate.

Well the point limit is an extraneous piece of information - the FOC is not tied in any way to point limit. If you don't like this thread, stop posting and reading it. No one is forcing you.
