This is a good point actually, don't forget that you will also only be able to fire the way the tank is pointing anyway!

On the fixed vs. moveable issue, I'm going to keep the assembly turret mounted. The fluff for my chapter has them as siege specialists like their parent chapter, hence the idea of adding a few patterns of vindicator. @vikingscott -The only way I can think to break up the shape of the turret imo would be to add some spaced armour of some kind and have the angles of the plates bit a little more conducive to the shape of the rhino chassis. Do you think that would be enough to tie the two pieces together? @ede19840- thanks mate, I'm not convinced by the barrel myself and so i'm just waiting on some bits to come through. I've got a vindicator cannon and an demolisher cannon on route to have a tinker with, but once its all settled then we can start the fun job of painting. I'll upload the photo then you guys can let me know what you think.

Is there a historical analogue for a siege shield? I'm just wondering if there would be any other way to represent it besides a dozer blade. This is a particularly cogent question as I've been re-building my sons vindy after dropping it and I was going to make him a siege shield to go on it... but it's a Mk-1 vindy so it has the center-gun configuration so the standard shield will not work. As to the turret... that bothers me a bit from a fairness perspective. What's the side armor on a vindy?

Haha, yes I read about your underhanded tricks, trying to cause casualties before the battle, shame on you Gits . Glad you have managed to fix it. History wise do you mean in the history of the Vindi or the history of Siege warfare. Rush Shields are historically accurate, both for the protection of archers and engineers. So I'm guessing the Siege shield on the Vindi is an evolution of that. The moveable turret is more designed from a modelling and fluff aspect rather than a gaming aspect. Rules wise it could easily follow the norm. Armour wise the Vindi has F13 S11 R10, if you check out the photos for mine I actually have the LR doors on, with a view to adding ablative armour similar to the MkI variety. Automatically Appended Next Post: Right as promised here is the mock up of the dozer. I think its gone alright consider this is another first. I'll probably add addition vertical struts. I was looking to achieve a repressor shield and I think this will look very close when the detailing is done. How about you guys what do you think about the design? BTW thanks again for all the comments, I do read them all and take on board what you are all say.

The turreted Vindicator is a new look, and it certainly isn't bad for a variant as long as everyone remembers that the gun doesn't really spin 360 degrees. What I think I would do if I had gone with a LR turret is this..
I'd slice the turret horizontally about an 1/8 of an inch from the top. Keep the gun and the pivot intact but throw away the rest of the turret bottom. You could place the remaining piece at the front of the rhino hull so your gun sits on the front slope and blend the turret shape into the rhino's top deck.
You'd have a fixed mount hull gun but you'd keep the suggestion of a Leman Russ turret and I think have a pretty neat looking outline
And when I say "throw away" of course I mean into your bits box. I never dispose of a part that could be useful later.
edit- I like this idea a lot, I may do a variation to build a Destroyer tank hunter. maybe on a Chimera body...

Hmm, sounds pretty cool actually. I may try that with my next one as I'll have a spare vindicator front plate. Another thing I may look into is grabbing one of Pig Iron's vehicles (yes they do more than heads for scouts and IG people) just to see what tank variants I could knock up with that.

so the bits came through this morning and I jumped to it to get the cannon swapped out. Personally I'm a lot happier with the shortened barrel. All I need to do now is get the shield made up and devise some additional side armour to help the tank match a true vindicator.

Might be a bit late, but maybe actually mounting the turret off-center to keep it in line with the siege shield cut out would give it a unique look? Dunno, just a thought...
Also, I liked the longer barrel better Just my $0.02

ordomalleus - thanks for the comments mate, you're right the longer barrel did look cool, but didn't really seem to be fit for a vindicator. As for the turret, the reason I chose not to go with that idea was my desire to keep the ability to swap the tank back to either a razorback or a rhino, something that I would have lost if I had shifted the turret assembly off centre. Also remember that the dozer I'll be using will be a version of the card stock mock I made so no need to shift it to match now
