Also, how many unoccupied helmets come in the Cadian squad? I thought it was just one or two, which certainly isn't enough for 4 heads meant for helmets.

That all said, I like these a great deal.

You can currently get empty Cadian helmets on eBay for on the order of USD$1.25 for 4 of 'em... 'Course that might change fast if these sell well.

They look okay. I wish GW would just do it themselves already though. They need the practice with female pieces anyway

I like the greatcoats a lot.

I dont mind the new pieces. The heads without the top part could be used instead to mold greenstuff hair. You could really make them all look different.

Love those full girlie marine models. Very cool.

It seems to me that all your guardmen would end up looking like transvestites. All the components on the guard frames are designed to look male, so just sticking female heads and the occasional torso into the mix will just look weird

I do not "hate" them, but I do not like them much either.

The "flak armor" looks more like a Sports bra worn outside of the tunic. No definition to the Armor plates is what causes this.

"Hey Vasquez; you ever been mistaken for a man?"

"No. Have you?"

Golly gee do I MISS Vasquez.

Some of those minis Kroothawk swooped in with aren't bad at all. It really kinda bugs me I only have guys in my Cadians; might have to work in some female models. Only seems right, on the other hand (sorta) to have them as Catachans however; women are generally more vicious when pushed to the point. In the in grimdark of the far future, I think everyone LIVES at that point.

I like them. They don't fit the style of my IG Regiment overly well, but I'll still pick up a pack or two to see what I can do with them. If nothing else, I could use them with Cadians and some kitbashing to make some fairly distinct Stormtroopers for my force.

It's always good to have something different. It's also very nice also to have female troops that don't look like they're all size DD cleavage. Yes, I know it's going against the sci-fi and fantasy norm of women which plays into the overstereotyped and sexist view of female soldiers running around with nothing but bikini armor covering up the naughty bits. This is more respectful. Big deal if they look a bit mannish. Anyone who's been in the military knows that our fighting men and women all begin to look the same in BDUs.

As the father of 3 daughters, one of whom is actually interested in painting models, it's nice to not have the "pole dancer/stripper units of 40k" as the only female models to paint and game with.

Ouch, but spot on. The faces are not very well sculpted, sorry to say. The proportions are way off.

The torsos are not bad though. With a tiny bit of GS on the lower halves of the figs, these torsos plus some other heads could make convincing female troopers.

Does anyone have any alternate suggestions/sources for female 28-30mm heads?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I'd like to see a set painted by someone a little less obsessed with the '$10 hooker' make-up look I suspect a more naturalistic paintjob would look rather classier.

The models are good, but I'd like to also see some additional torso and leg combinations with a more wide-hipped look just to mix up the body shapes a little. Of course the same is true to a lesser extent for male bodies - i realise that the IG don't believe in overfeeding their troops, but a variety of builds (including height) would be a nice option.

Someone should do a range of female army figures called "Hit the IG Spot"

From my experience, those makeup jobs are from 15 dollar hookers, or New Jersey housewives.

Yep. At the end of the day, without a female body-build, your Guardswoman will always look like transvestites. A man with tits and a feminine face =/= a woman.

I actually tried to turn male bodies into female bodies with a Guardswoman conversion tutorial a while back.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/291924.page

It came out pretty decent with minimal GS work, which is what I wanted, but at the end of the day, for the best results it is down to a company producing a full body. It doesn't even have to have any flak armour, as you can make press moulds of the plastic Cadian armour and sort that out in a jippy. If a company did do this, they could even produce a variety of body shapes in a Cadian style uniform. As long as they leave the torso without any armour so we can add on the flak armour, it would be fine.

Goddamnit we need vasquez in 28 mm. I would buy the gak out of some Vasquez in 28 mm. There were a couple other chicks in there too; hell you cant forget Ripley. But Vasquez would be an excellent begining. You hear me all you sculptors otu there that wanna know what to sculpt next? There you go; "Women of Sci-Fi". Vasquez and Ripley from Aliens, Denise "Plasticwoman" Richards and that redhead who played Diz from Starship Troopers, etc....

Aside from the other project, what company does multi part 25-30 mm female figures?

Are there any other miniatures that would fit the bill as far as female military conversions, so then you would only need to buy the conversion kit to add in to your exisiting army?

I'm as well interested, but I am of the same opinion that the figs will look disproportioned.

I do not advocate Anime looking asses, or overdevelopment, just a little more proportion. In the same lines as the old female figures, such as the female commissar, or the catachan grenader. They wern't too much over the top, and the proportions worked out better then just sticking female heads on male bodies.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Go to your local GW. Find the Catachan Special Weapon blister packs. Sift through them until you find one with a Grenade Launcher.

The female commissar was a hooker with a hat.

Aye. That is what I saw too.

Though I have always imagined woman commissars to be a somewhat like a Russian Margaret Thatcher. It suits the imagery.

I use some ShadowForge stuff in my WoC army, with mixed feelings. On the one hand the chicks are fairly old so the sculptor has likely improved. There are also some nice touches here and there.
On the other hand, they are shaped like Gumby, with very little anatomical detailing in terms of muscle and bone structure. Some extra work defining muscle and bones, especially around joints and on faces/hands would make them much better models.

As to these, they might be worth a shot, but Hasslefree makes some great conversion heads as well, so it is a hard sell for me.
