Ta`u vision extends into IR and UV parts of the spectrum.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Isn't that just dandy.
On the topic of SM stealth i think they learn how to move quieter as they get more used to moving around in PA it can be assumed the humming is audible inside the armour. In the SW series Ragnar sneaks up on a bunch of IG and accomplishes that without being detected.

No, it's because of the armor itself. All power armor has such penalties. Astartes actually have no penalty for size due to their Black Carapace.
and a Marine losing Dexterity is relitive when you are already superhumen. losing Dexterity wouldn't matter compared to a normal human who would have far worse dexterity.
The average deathwatch marine is not really that much more manually dexterous OUTSIDE of armor than a low-level inquisitorial agent. Much stronger, much tougher, yes. But agile? Not really. 40/100 is average for a Deathwatch marine (an assault marine would probably have higher, of course), and they're already considered veterans by the time they're recruited into the Deathwatch. 30 is average for humans, and a human with any experience in combat is probably gonna be 40 or so. Assassins are going to be much more agile and have much more manual dexterity than the average deathwatch marine, and these are not assassinorum operatives-- they're just sellswords/guns for hire.

you stressed OUTSIDE. Are you saying PA increases agility?

Where was that said? Xenology states that they see clearly in the ultraviolet spectrum and normal spectrum, but gives no evidence of IR.

They did mention the whole thing about them having terrible depth perception, which likely was "augmented by their superior technology".

Infra red and ultraviolet are just outside the range of visible light. The dark sun filter extend your range of vision allowing you to see both.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious?

Infrared and ultraviolet, however, are not the same thing.

Plus: Just being able to "see" into the infrared spectrum doesn't mean you'd be able to see heat changes. You'd have to be able to actually see infrared radiation.

That's what differentiates thermal goggles from standard night vision equipment.

I know they're different, but both are just outside the visible spectrum but on opposite ends, so if you can increase the spectrum in both directions, then both can be seen, or at least translated into visible light.

anyways to bring things back from Tau vision capabilites, I have no idea how this mystery of sneaky 1 ton armored suits came about, Scouts can be stealth, thats why Chapters employ them, for stealth. Power Armor is built for the purpose which Space Marines were engineered, schock, awe, and rapid assault. Sadly I've seen this myth of stealthiness spread throughout fluff and novels, however one of the few sources I've seen that painted a believable picture was the novel Rynns World. In it they specifically outline the ridiculousness of using Power Armor to infiltrate.

Regardless of agility it's pretty hard to be stealthy in combat boots, let alone a giant ceramite suit that weighs almost a ton.

idc how superhuman they are, if they dont have some sort of sound dampener field or special silenced "lubed up" armor. There is no way a 1 ton monster in a suit of ceremite, with a fusion generator on his back, and rocket launching machine gun in his hands, is going to sneak up on anything in the 41st millenium...unless someone could logically explain how outside of fanboyism (I hearts the Raven Guard! BAAACCCRAAAAWWW!!!) or fluff armor how they pull it off.

I'm just wondering where it says that Raven Guard are stealthy.

I always thought of them as closet combat guerillas. Sure that requires a certain amount of stealth, but it largely involves wreaking vasts amounts of damage at a weak point and then running away.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

just read the fluff behind Kaven Shrike and the 3rd company.

they leave Orks terrified that the Raven Guard may be hiding in the Shadows.

to quote his entry

"Shrike and his men were untouchable, able to strike at the Orks' brutal warmachine with seeming impunity, inflicting catastrophic damage before slipping away into the shadowed ruins of the hive cities. .... Meanwhile, beyond the raveged defences, Skullkrak's Boyz keep a wary eye on the shadows cast by ruin and undergrowth, knowing that Shrike and his Company might be lurking in the darkness, just waiting for the correct moment to strike."

emphasis mine, but you can see that, Shrike's company anyway, are very adept at being sneaky.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

PA is big but if you spend 20 hours a day for 20 years practicing stealth in it you probably get reasonably good.
