And that gets us back to DaBoss's gripe: whining over too much or too little is what Goldilocks does. It's childish. Governing is about compromise.

I find it very saddening that Obama's presidency reflects so poorly his campaign.
Many of the changes he promised were exactly what the society needed. The fact that the reality of his abiliity as president so poorly reflects his ambitions as candidate reflects the fact that capitalism really has overpowered democracry. One of my favorite quotes suggested thusly:
“In the Soviet Union, capitalism triumphed over communism. In this country [the U.S], capitalism triumphed over democracy.”
-Fran Lebowitz
This is the most precise appraisal of the failing of western democracy. Anyone who believes we live in a democratic society is seeing the illusion, we actually live in a capitalist society.

Sure, but the illusion of the time is that the Republicans had much to do with this at all. It was a Liberal project from the start.
I concur with compromise, as long as it follows the Constitution. Automatically Appended Next Post: Dracos wrote:I find it very saddening that Obama's presidency reflects so poorly his campaign.

Since when? Since Teddy Roosevelt's "Trust Busting" in the early 1900's? That's not capitalism. That's light fascism.

Well, you could actually go out on a limb and say that Obama hurt us in the opposite direction for international relationships by not appearing as strong on the international stage as Bush projected. Of course, domestic conservative media could be the only ones saying Obama is an apologetic coward.
Yes, that is pretty much the case.

The was one side getting everything they want and the other giving everything they have. All that talk about the debt ruining our nation, then they turn around and pile more on. Hell we haven't even closed Gitmo. People on the left are angry that all the hard work done to elect BO amounted to nothing. Hell did Bush give the Democrats everything? No, the man lacked a lot of things, but one thing he had was a back bone. The healthcare bill was a compromise?! When did this happen? Why did 71% of Americans who said "No" in polling get ignored? Cite the statistic when you're misrepresenting a statistic that everyone told you you didn't understand months ago on this very forum. That way we can tell you you don't understand what you are attempting to cite. The vast majority of foreign policy experts believe that Bush was one of the most destructive leaders in history for Americas alliances abroad. Many policy experts also believe that this was by design given Bushes belief in the American Island concerning global politics and our primacy and isolation in them.
