Even Ultra players don't always want Calgar.
and if someone did want to run 3 squads of honor guard that would involve getting 3 Calgar models.

As has been mention here and seen elsewhere, the Vanguard Vets can substitue for Honor Guard.
The Black Templar upgrade box can be useful, but it has a ton of crosses to file down.
Forgeworld Mark 3 or 4 armor would be nice.
Chapterhouse Studios makes some pretty sweet shoulder pads.
Plenty of options. Get out there and convert!

Honour Guard Squads can number 10, that's way more than just 3 calgar boxes o.o

Unless you WANT to lose, dont play honour guard with vanilla. Really. They are balls.

Well yeah, I guess that's a good question, too. 'Why do you want honor guard, other than from a fluff/modeling standpoint.' They're very over-priced.

They do have Artificer Armor, which somewhat puts them on par with Terminators armed with Relic Blades instead of Power Fists. However they lack the Storm Bolter and 5+ invul save in exchange for being a smidge cheaper.

I've looked at running them. However, when I put them next to Assault Terminators or Regular Terminators, I just can't pull the trigger.

I've tried 'em a few times and have had mixed results. I've stopped taking a Chapter Master anyway and tend to just take a Librarian and/or Chaplain instead. That's a lot of points to plunk down on one unit.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

for me, about termies- I find SB/ PF termies useless. LC termies are meh, and TH/ SS termies are evil. I had 5 of them:
survive shooting from, in the space of a game:
20 'cron destroyers
monolith
5 scarabs
nightbringer
20 warriors
and later on:
3 LRBT
3 LR plasma
3 LR demolishers
20 guardsmen
CCS
3 Ogryns
5 kasrkin.
60 gaunts
5 rippers
tyrant
2 carnifexes
2 hive guard
warrior prime
5 warriors
they killed:
3 ogryns
10 guardsmen
CCS
60 gaunts
5 rippers
tyrant
2 carnifexes
5 warriors
warrior prime
2 LRBT's
LR demolisher
20 destroyers
20 warriors
nightbringer
5 scarabs. Over 3 games. ouch.

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid. |
