I think spears work great for goblins with the poison banner in the unit, I've had to deal with this unit a few times and it just goes right on through my daemons.

Mathwise saurus with spears (5 wide) get 20 attacks, saurus without spears get 15.
So the raise in attacks for spears isn't 50% it's 33% making us both wrong You because you said it's 50%, me because i failed at math

Exactly. What makes spears more viable for beastmen is because they can get hatred and therefore get a lot of mileage out of the extra attacks.
