It's only noticeable if you have the old and the new next to each other or if you've built a lot of the old ones. The hatch is different which doesn't bother me much. What I don't like is the new mantlet. Shouldn't be a problem for a while since I already have eight old style Chimeras which is all I need for 1500 point battles. It's only a nuisance when I play larger battles. I need about four more Chimeras. I think I still have two old style turrets so I just need to find two more.

My guard army right now just consist of mainly that Baneblade and the 10 tanks I built for it. It was originally an Apoc-only army, so I never had any Chimeras. I have an oldstyle turret from a bitz-sale and compared it to my friend's Chimera, but I didnt notice any differences.

The old style Chimera turret has a hatch that is split in half (each half opens to a separate side of the commander's cupola). The new hatch is one round piece that opens to the rear.

The ML on the old style Chimera runs straight into the mantlet inside the turret. The new turret has a funky little plate mantlet outside the turret.

Not a big change. However I do agree that the half-cupola is better than the one we have now.

The older turret seems a bit flatter....much more like the BMP and BTRs the Chimera is based on.

Funny how they updated the Chimera's Turrets, but not the hull mounted heavy bolter.

The older turret is flatter but neither version is large enough to be more than a one man turret.

They didn't improve the hull heavy bolter or heavy flamer for the Chimera chassis. I'm more impressed with the improvements to the LRBT and variants.

I do like the new searchlight, the extra kit, Imperial symbols, and the heavy stubber that come with the new Chimera.

they did update the hull mounted heavy flamer though. I distinctly remember seeing a new, more mechanical version. The bolter still got no love though.

They both were updated, the heavy bolter now comes with a hollowed out gun barrel (no more drilling!), same with the heavy flamer. The style is still the same, it's just that the barrels come pre-hollowed.

Correct...and I'll be the first one to admit that I was wrong. While it seems a minor change, it makes a lot of difference in appearance (and labor).

...and after taking a long look at my Devil Dog...I kind of like the new turret. Maybe I'll just modify the hatch...

Ugh...nevermind...I just like the Devil Dog turret. The new Chimera turret is fugly.
