I wish I could find that motivation poster. It had a close up picture of a guardsman and said something to the effect of;

"Imagine walking into a starship of horrors and chaos. Finally, after walking through halls of death and losing all your friends....you walk into to see your Emperor, your GOD lying at Horus's feet bleeding to death. Do you run away? No, you charge and hold the fething line, like an Imperial Guardsmen"

oops, they just looked chaosy with the black armour and all

I only heard that it was a guardsman who sacrificed himself, not a termie...

Also, in the BA codex it says Sanguinius dented the armor of horus which was the only way horus was beaten, but most sources say that Horus beat down the emperor, the the guardsman came and died, the the big E psycicly killed horus. How would the dent matter against pyscics, especially the emperors psycic powers?

well armour can still protect you from psychic powers right like imagine you get hit by a thunderbolt and your wearing a suit of armour Itd have to corrode / break through the armour to damage you right ?, so im guessing the dent / scratch Sanguinius made was were the emperor channelled his psychic energy and broke through Horus's armour.

doesnt Khorne give his followers anti magic protection ?, and with horus being the "chosen" champion of chaos undivided Im sure Khorne along with the other 3 gods would squeeze all the juice they could into him without turning him into a spawn.

My personal theory is that ol' sangy sacrificing himself didn't actually harm horus but the devotion and love shown gave the emperor +1 rage and +1 warp power which was just the edge he needed to WTFBBQ horus's soul.

The eye symbol is actually something the Emperor granted Horus. When Horus was declared Warmaster the Emperor declared him to be "the Emperor's Vigilance and the Eye of Terra". Horus took the title to heart apparently and depicted it everywhere he could.

I've always thought it looked quite...Chaos-like, to be honest.

A 10 foot human would have a massive wingspan (to actually be able to be fly), i don't think battle barge corridors make for easy flying

yer but the emperor is supposed to be the greatest psyker in the universe, with that he should have been able to work of horus has turned at least when he was on his way to terra, giving more time to prepare defenses.

He is the greatest psyker in the universe, its just his faith in his sons not to betray him blinded him that's all. Like a parent trust a child then one day you wake up and you have a knife in your stomach and the kids standing there goin, I WANTED ICE CREAM!!! lol jk but to an extent it sort of like that. completely unexpected to the Emperor whose only fault IMO was trusting the traitor Primarchs with his Grand Plan

I'm pretty sure in that picture Horus has a psychic hood, so wouldn't that give him additional protection from the emperors psychic powers?

The Emperor didn't truly believe - or want to - that his closest son had fallen beyond redemption. He boarded Horus' ship to plead with him to renounce Chaos and re-join him.

He thought that there was still a spark of his old self left and if he could just reach out to him...

But when he slew Sanguinus mortally wounded the Emperor - and ripped apart the Imperial Guardsman who charged him, he saw that Horus was truly gone.

In that instant he drew on a psykic attack of such intensity and magnitude, powered by his anger, sorrow, betrayal and regret, that it caused the four Dark Powers to abandon Horus in terror, for had they remained it would have destroyed them outright also.

In the cruellest of ironies, Horus was himself at the last moment, realising all his treachery, before his body and soul was obliterated by the most powerful psyker in all the galaxy.

what about all the traitor marines, traitor admech, traitor imperial army, thats alot of people planning to attack terra.

and if they were able to mask their thoughts somehow, would the emperor realise something bad was gonna happen when millions of humans suddenly were able to errect psyker barriers around their minds

The emperor was on terra far away fro mthese people, and he wasnt probing their minds all the time. When the heresy started thats when many people chose to join horus, they all wernt plotting the entire time.

Oh yea forsure, but I was just referring to horus's defences during the fight with the emperor and the psychic hood protecting him personally during the fight.

Emperor pschic power - destroy

destroy - declare you are going to destroy anything (can be terrain, fire warriors, stompas, Horus...). Roll a D6. On a roll of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, take a chosen tool of destruction (hammer, mallet, chainsaw, rocket launcher) and butcher the chosen target. You must provide the weapon of destruction. Ignores psychic tests and perils of the warp and any other crap like that.

Example: You choose to kill a stompa. You roll a D6 and get a 2. You then choose to use C4. You move to a safe distance and explode the C4. You return to the game.

Note: Holes in the board count as impassible terrain.

'these people' were all travelling to terra to destroy it, the heresy didn't just happen, it wasn't suddenly started and all the traitors appeared on terra.

if the emperor's tarot can predict events i would of assumed that the emperor could have worked out what was going on faster.

The Emperor knew what was happening. He hoped it wouldn't come down to the end we all know it did.

No doubt dude, there's respect you have for a mighty Primarch charging a brother Primarch, like two ancient Greek Gods battling out in the heavens.

Then...there's real respect...for basically one of us in a flak jacket....charging a 9 foot tall Chaos possessed super-human with a lightning claw larger than your body.

While the first takes courage, the second takes a degree of zealot like insanity that even enemies need to tip their hat to.
