I finished building the Sternguard squad and got them a Razorback. They will have the Forgeworld bolters with the scope. Technically, I know, the Razorback wasn't present in the Heresy, but its a cool model so what the hell. I patterned the armor differently from the Tac and Assault squads still trying to keep with the mix of armor seen in Collected Visions. That black dude is a Forgeworld Tech Priest. I added the big black thing to his back because all the Mechanicum guys in the books have them. He will lead, or be part of, some sort of "counts as" unit. Surely some of those guys were hung out to dry too.

Great work. Love the purple. It's the purple I imagined them to be. I love that you're mixing the era's and armor's. Doing something very similar to my dusk raider project.. only you're considerably further than I am.

What are those awesome vented helms on your assault troops (with the grills at the front) and where did you get them? They're perfect for another project I'm working on!

Thanks, Ive been watching your Dusk Raiders, you are a madman with the poses and green stuff! The Assault helmets are Black Templars, Ebay bits stores have them. Not sure, but Dark Angels may have a version too.

Does anyone know if the new Storm Raven would be appropriate for Heresy? I don't see anything in the Collected Visions books but all the novels seem to describe gunships.

I doubt it, IIRC when they are reffering to gunships, its either the Thunderhawk or the Stormbird.

Storm Raven is after the Heresy, its a new gunship transport derived off the Mark 6 Thunderhawk but smaller and cheaper to build. Its for small unit insertions and combat missions

Small progress. I thought I had finished the first Tactical Squad, but apparently I have forgotten how to count to 10. Still need 1 more guy. The Forgeworld weapons look really cool, I think. There was something about the Sternguard that didnt look right so I switched the arms to CSM, that did the trick.

Ok, Sternguard and Razorback are done. The Mechanicum creep is coming along but I still have some details to pick out. Im gong to wait until all the vehicles are finished before I trick them out with emblems. Ive also got a shot of the loyalists so far. I think I will finish the majority of the army in Emperors Children colors and a World Eaters assault squad and Death Guard tactical squad. Maybe a Sons of Horus, still deciding. I want the army to feel like a bunch of guys who banded together to fight the traitors. I don't want an army in so many colors there is no uniformity. Anyway.....

I was wondering if someone out there could help me out with a unit selection. I was mulling 3 options for the Mechanicum guy. First, I could take the easy way and get 4 gun servitors "count as" Devastators. Second, build some mechanized thing and make it "count as" Thunderfire Cannon. Really not to motivated about this one, Im not a good scratch builder. Third is have him lead a Skitarii squad, "counts as" Scouts. I think this would be the most entertaining to build and paint, but Im not sure if the Heresy Era story line supports it. I know there were Titans on Istvaan, and they are supported by Mechanicum ground troops, but I dont remember specifics. Any input would be appreciated.

cool, really liking what you've done here, more and more inspiration for me to get going on my death guard pre heresy army. Though i still have to wait for the bulk of the army to arrive.

Are you using Forgeworld models? An army of those guys would look great.

I will more than likely be using a combinartion of forgeworld as vets and sgt. And the other guys will be post heresy armored.

I've never been a big fan of the old vehicle models, but the models and the paintjobs look REALLY fantastic.

I went through a planning phase for a Pre Heresy Emp Childrens army ages ago. Anyway long story short I scoured the net for any images I could find. There are some great ones out there, but these are really high up there from what I found!

Look forward to seeing more.

I really appreciate the comments gents. Some of those old models just need a little love. Speaking of which I finished up the Land Raider. It still needs some ornaments, but that will come. The second tactical squad is also finished. One thing about the Terminator, I was just kind of screwing around when I threw him together. Not sure I remember how I did it. Im probably going to make a different version for the squad. Lunarghost and Maliceinthelookingglass (very cool) Ive wanted to do this for years too. Dont know how long yall have been into thehobby, but putting one of these together is like finding a whole new race to play.

Wow great work i will say im not a fan of the old land raider model but you did well with it! and i think you should write a story on these guys that would be cool

So I was a witness to something historical this week. The Dallas Cowboys organization seems to be the first in the history of the NFL to be humiliated in the Superbowl without actually playing in the Superbowl. I almost feel sorry for Jerry. Talk about EVERYTHING going wrong. Sheesh.

So I wasnt going for the Assault squad, they didnt look Heresy-y enough. I added the tabards and painted the gauntlets. Opinions please?

I finished up the first Jet Bike. Its not the sexiest ride I've seen on Dakka but will have to do for now. Im not a very good scratch builder. The next marine riders are probably going to need some CSM bits. I dont think this rider really fits in. Anyway, here she is with at least 2 more to come so it will be nice and legal.

Everything looks great. The only thing is that during the Heresy the traitor Mechanicum members wore black robes, not red ones.

Great looking army, the jetbike looks fantastic, maybe you could include a few word bearer chaplins.
