Emperors Faithful wrote:It is amazing how every other video involving music turns into some sort of flame fest regarding the guy. I'm not a fan of his music, but I don't understand the hostility towards him.
Oh and good luck with college!
I think the reasons are quite simple, actually:
1) Women like him, and this causes Men to get angry, as men (and women) are incredibly territorial creatures.
2) He is popular, and anything popular must be terrible.
3) People like his music, but they are told by people who are affected by 1) or 2) that it is bad, and so, being lemmings, automatically hate it.
At least, those are the only reasons that I can make seem like the sensible reasons. I apply this logic to Twilight, too.
1.) nah. girls like him. this causes adults to get angry. yer on a geeksite... means 99% of 'adults' are actually grown up kids, and 99% of kids are male around these parts (selfs included - theoretically college kids are adults too) 'women' don't like him, kids do. Kids also like yo-gabba-gabba, which makes teen-mom 'women' happy because it means more time they can plop their kid in front of a screen time and talk on chat with babydaddy.
2.) yup thats true for the most part, a few notable exceptions being the origional star wars movies and and anything that says 'now with 20% more cheese!' on the packaging - both of which are popular and cool too!
3.) 'his' music is a pretty generous term. if by 'his' you mean the legion of PR people, production people, studio engineers, lyric writers, and session musicians, then yeah I guess that's 'his' music. This has nothing to do with hating what women like, hating popular things, or even hating the poor little tool himself. This is hating the industry and the pawns that are the poster children for the crap that gets shovelled out onto the airwaves are just poor casualties who will probably end up in and out of institutions. WAit, brittney and the olsens and so on already made that popular... maybe amputation is the next stage of 'where-are-they-now' for teen-dream icons?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I was joking.

Well I dunno, this is an e-mail that NK has been sent at least a couple o' times over:
"Dear Sir/Madam,
In our country, we have a famous young, and very talented singer named Justin Bieber. He held an internet poll so that his fans could decide which country he should play in on his world tour. A lot of people thought it would be a great idea to let one of our best singers sing in the best country of the world: The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (the best Korea there is).
Maybe he could learn from your great singers, and, it would honor many fans of him, if he could possibly play for the Beloved Leader. But although North Korea ended first in the internet poll, Justin Bieber refuses to go to your great country.
In an interview he admitted that the reason for not going was, that he hated Koreans. I think this is an outrage! In my opinion the people of North Korea deserve to know about this racial discrimination inflicted upon them by Justin Bieber. Could this injustice be told to them via a press release? I would like you to know that we, the (former) fans of Justin Bieber, support the Beloved Leader and all North-Koreans in this case.
Yours truly,
Name"

Why should you care, ive never heard the guy sing yet and im trying to avoid it like the plague.... well i guess he is Canadas gift to the USA for constantly ripping us off with the softwood lumebr deals... even though thats our damn fault for voting on a guy with lego hair.

Which one? most politicians in Canada have Lego hair.
Stephen Harper
Brian Mulroney
Michael Ignatieff
Paul Martin
Now I'm an elitist. Lol. No, I'm just lazy, and yes, for those who can't read, I did look up who he was. Nothing special about him at all, just another pop singer, only male instead of the usual female.
As for why I'm posting here, that's obvious. Because my spring semester hasn't started yet, duh...
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I've met the kid and he seemed quite nice. Peoplee love to hate but while he was here in Ohio I heard him sing on stage and the child has a great set of lungs without the need for a studio. He'd sing rings around old boy bands like 98 degrees or insync. Somebody in the crowd dared him to freestyle as a joke, and he did. Was good too. He's a young kid with singing ability, who handles the stage like a person twice his age. His R&B style top most male singers, and he can dance. Above all he isn't another emo loser suckfest band. He's entertainment. And that's all he needs to be.
And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.
Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Cute kid marketed, teenagers rebel, upset about the pablum they think is being marketed to them which is, of course, actually targeted at their tween siblings.
Commenters on Youtube take a more personal interest in freaking out about it, since he came from Youtube.
Mannahnin pretty much hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't feel too bad about not knowing about it though. I only actually found out about it on the last Bieber thread that came up.
I pity the kid, if anything. He gets all this popularity, gets used to living a continual party, when his balls are going to drop one day very soon, and then when he's no longer the little man-girl that he is, he's going to drop off into obscurity to be replaced by the next one of his kind. Just look what happened to other people of his ilk.
As far as the internet hate, the haters fail to realize that they give it all power by continually talking about it. It's really not hard to avoid. Just turn the radio off and go on about your life.
Shadowbrand wrote:Pardon me but I am going to derail the thread slightly.
Give or take 10-15 years. Do any of you think Bieber could wind up like most other teenage stars?
Or better yet like REALLY famous stars like Marylin Monroe/Elvis/Micheal Jackson?
Well, no, you don't want your pet star getting that much clout. Once he grows up to be a real person, he's not as marketable to the youngest demographic, and possibly strong willed enough to try to make it on his own, riding on the name you helped him build up. Nope, nowadays, you get them young and burn them out early, because they're a fully renewable resource.
Beiber is just another fad for pre-teens in a long string of fads for pre-teens. Response to him is one of the following:
1) You're a pre-teen. You love him and talk about loving him non-stop.
2) You're a rebellious pre-teen. You and your friends all hate him and talk about hating him non-stop.
3) You're a teenager. You want to prove you're not a pre-teen, so you hate everything pre-teens love. As such, you hate him and talk about hating him non-stop.
4) You're an adult. You can't name a single one of his songs. You're totally indifferent to him.
5) You're an adult with pre-teen kids. You hear his songs constantly and are annoyed by him, but glad your kids have stopped talking about the Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and iCarly. You're half excited about when his spotlight fades and half dreading whomever's spotlight turns on next.
