Who the feth is Justin Bieber and why should I care?
People on youtube won't shut the hell up and ranting about the poor schmuck and I have no damn clue who he is.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

2: Yes, and all it shows is some effeminate pop singer. No different than any other.
3: Yes, I don't watch it except for PBS and PBS World.
4: In Texas, attending college. You know, having a life.

I hadn't actually heard any of his music into last week when I watched the 'Baby Baby' music video on YT and to be honest it wasn't much worst then some of the usual rubbish.

Heh. If by cool kids you mean worthless internet trash, yeah.

Sure, I don't expect anyone to be able to give a sufficient answer, but I still asked "why should I care" rather than simply saying "I don't care". A question promotes discussion

We hate him because, like Twilight, Girls won't shut up about him, and he is stealinz our women.
Actually, I don't like him because I've heard he is a real jerk, the kind that "I'm a huge star, so I am better than you" type of person. Haven't heard any of his music yet. And let's not forget; Justin Bieber Trading Cards.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Cute kid marketed, teenagers rebel, upset about the pablum they think is being marketed to them which is, of course, actually targeted at their tween siblings.
Commenters on Youtube take a more personal interest in freaking out about it, since he came from Youtube.

I hate youtube, the people have poor understandings of just about everything.
One thing is Justin Bieber is very famous, but the thing is he sucks at music, he barely has any music talent, and is basically him just using his throat, and thats not all you use for singing.
From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
Justin Beiber is a pop act. Wildly popular for a time, and completely disposable when that time is up. All of this has happened before and will happen again.

1: happy to hear it. I don't know the name of last years Golden Demon awards and that makes me cool too.
2: i thought he looked like 'pink' except for hair color, but she could probably beat him up. Other than that, the Lenny-Kravitz and Snoop resemblance is a bit of a stretch
3: my arent we elitist. you just answered the question.
4: are you kidding? COLLEGE??!! I guess that could count as having a life. So could dakka posts infering your pop-culture-ignorance-superiority. Dude get off your elitism horse.
I have too much of a life to know who an extremely popular music star is, but have plenty of time to post a thread on a Wargaming Forum to ask about him.
Good job only paying attention to quality music/media (NPR FTW). He is the latest tween hearthrob who's overly synthesized and computer created. What are you studying/majoring in?

It is amazing how every other video involving music turns into some sort of flame fest regarding the guy. I'm not a fan of his music, but I don't understand the hostility towards him.
Oh and good luck with college!

I think the reasons are quite simple, actually:
1) Women like him, and this causes Men to get angry, as men (and women) are incredibly territorial creatures.
2) He is popular, and anything popular must be terrible.
3) People like his music, but they are told by people who are affected by 1) or 2) that it is bad, and so, being lemmings, automatically hate it.
At least, those are the only reasons that I can make seem like the sensible reasons. I apply this logic to Twilight, too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed to me that slarg was likening Twilight hate with Beiber hate and saying that its lame to have that sort of contrived nerd rage over something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I was joking.

Probably my mistake given the inability to convey good humour in text. But don't tell anyone I admitted it!

Funny, I don't know why you think women particularily like him. Or why I should feel threatened by someone whose voice probably hasn't broken yet.
2) He is popular, and anything popular must be terrible.
Great logic, mate. Why don't we apply that to everything...maybe starting with sport.
3) People like his music, but they are told by people who are affected by 1) or 2) that it is bad, and so, being lemmings, automatically hate it.
So first it's women, now it's people?

I'm sure you do. How is that "Kewl Kidz that Hate Popular Stuff" club of yours going, BTW?
Most of those points are mainly the way teenagers think, not neccesarily me; I have no problem with him, it's just that I just don't see the logic in one person having his own trading cards. Seriously, it's the same. freaking. person. in different poses.
Besides d00d, I'm not Kewl. In High School I was a Super Nerd, even the normal nerds picked on me and stole my lunch money.....
