I like to play around 1500. Although the games around here lately have been around the 500-1000 point mark due to a sort of campaign thing and the amount of Blood Angels starting up. I'd say DE as well, but I really haven't seen them at all besides one.

I like between 1500-2000 mostly because the local store runs tourneys at these points values.

1,000 - 1,500 I feel thats the best tactical challenge as well as being time manageable, any larger and you might as well be playing Epic.

For me, i like 5k+ games, i talor most of my armies to that as it gives the feel of a "Army" and not a few squads running out.

I really enjoy 750-point games, and would lik to do 1000 point games, but all of my armies seem to go at about 1050 to be the next "playable" step. So I have optimized my armies for 1250 games with 1500 available, which was handy as I am playing in a 1500-point tourney this weekend.

Sunblitz Brotherhood: 2000 points (a very nice gift) W:0 L:5 D:0
Amarie's Vertigo Tribe: 1500 points W:5 L:5 D:0
=][= Witch Hunters: 1500 points W:0 L:0 D:0
Void Jackals: 1500 points W:0 L:0 D:0
The Wild Hunt: 1500 points W:0 L:1 D:0

I've been playing Warhammer 40,000 since 1988, and am just coming back from a bit of a 10-year hiatus. And please excuse any wild accusations, hallucinations, or outright factual errors, as I am recovering from a serious head injury. And Warhammer 40,000 is part of my therapy. OH YEAH!

For Epic, I play 3000-5000 points. For 40k, I am restricted by not having many figures-about 800 points

Usually I play 1000 points, but I always feel like I'm squeezing it in, so I prefer 1500.

1750 & 1850 are my faves, but I quite enjoy 1500 and 2000 as well. Against an opponent who knows what he's doing, any of these are easily doable in two hours, maybe two and half if there's a ton of close combat/a horde army involved.

1000 can be a fun change of pace, and allows you to get in a bunch of games. At our annual Cold Steel Mercenaries club invitational in November we got in six games on a Saturday, allowing everyone in attendance to play against everyone else.

depends on location and setting really..

at my place, my current table (roughly 4x4) can "comfortably" fit 1500 points (depending on deployment type, even my nids are nice and cozy, but not crammed)

at one of my buddies' places, its usually between 1500 and 2000, but we have gone up to 2500 on occaision.

At another friends place, we get our group games in, so each person will bring around 1250 and we'll get 2-4 people per side and have a slug fest.

Yeah, I agree with this. Above 1850, you need to start adding in strange things that aren't technically thematic, and the games can take FOREVER if one of the players is a horde commander.

It's nice to play some smaller points games now and again, though. It helps you learn how to play with each of your individual elements better, because the different pieces can't rely on other stuff that you bring at higher points games.
