Deathwind Missile launcher bitz are very similar to a single-rack of cyclone missiles. If your drop pods are armed with storm bolters then you should have many of these missile launcher bits around.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

I would if I weren't an idiot. I will see if I have any laying around or some buddies do.

I proxied the army up last night and played my first game with it. I was at 1445 points and he was at 1550. Annihilation - Spearhead against CSM: Dual Lash. He had a total of around four plasma pistols, seven plasma cannons, and a Blastmaster/Doom Siren. I knew if I got shot it wasn't going to be fun either as he was running something semi close to what the goal of my list was but he had the ability to move my guys around for me.

I think the list would've wiped the table with him but he started his Noise Marines and two squads of Plague Marines in 4+ cover areas and didn't move them the whole game. Unfortunately the board was clear enough that I had no cover on my side (terrible set up) and we could draw LoS everywhere almost. He went first and dropped seven Plasma Cannons nearly taking out 1/2 of my ML and all but two of my Lascannons. It was a devastating first turn. I failed to take out much (really bad rolls and trying to focus on getting those six Obliterators off the board ASAP).

In the end it was down to Grimnar and one Terminator against a Chaos Dreadnought and six Noise Marines (one with a Doom Siren). I got very lucky and immobilized the Dreadnought about 18" away while his back was facing me (he had just wiped the floor with a squad of Wolf Guard). Luckily Grimnar and the Terminator were able to assault and sweep the Noise Marines. Still couldn't table him but I beat him on units destroyed and kill points.

I guess I was pretty impressed. Being able to ID those Obliterators was fantastic (and his Sorcerer) but that Lash really screwed up my plans bad (as it does all foot armies I imagine) and the game took seven full turns and it was a little close for comfort for me.

I suppose in the future is to make sure to not allow that much terrain that provides high cover saves on the opponents side of the board and to remember to move my guys when they can pick up Relentless instead of only one unit twice during the whole game.

MVP of the game were Grimnar and that Terminator - dropped his Prince in one round and stayed alive the whole time.

It is definitely a strong list, and in my opinion has a really easy tactical learning curve. There are plenty of options abound though that can make this list have a bad day- like a terminator or sanguinary guard heavy list. Drop pods can throw wrenches in this type of army not just for being able to drop dangerous things real close to your ranged troopers, but for being able to put things in the way between your missiles and whatever you want dead.

At 1,500 look out for Horde Orks w/Kan Wall. 11 Walkers and a metric poop ton of shooting means you will be failing saves. It's actually strong enough to walk over you after taking the hits.

One should always endeavor to be on the lookout for Orks at 1500pts under almost any circumstance. Sound advice.

Whilst I hate the idea of the SW ML spam, I have to grudgingly admit its pretty damn effective

First time I played guard against, he got first turn and managed to destroy most of my tanks weapons, and then frag templated the hell out of the rest of the men

Its pretty effective IMO, although Marbo always is perfect for tying them up
