Personally I like Powerslave more.. number of the beast really just has 2 songs I love, the others I just like ... number and hallowed. Powerslave has Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Powerslave and Aces High which for me is the best maiden song, really, ever.
However, for an overall album I think 7th son is my favorite of all. But I think that's probably because it's the first maiden album I ever bought.. seems like for any band I always love the first album I get the most...

Powerslave NotB is good... But it's just...eh. Most maiden is good maiden, as far as I can tell.
Just discovered Rust in Peace the other week. I'm blown away. My knowledge of metal is too limited

That was the first album to go on my ipod. Rust In Peace is truly amazing.

I can't think of a song on there that's bad, to be honest Lucretia is wonderful, tornado of souls is sex, rust in peace...Polaris is simply brootal, five magics is great, even the really long song (holy wars, the punishment something) is good

Another one of my favorite 2010 releases was Megadeth playing the entire Rust In Peace album live at the Palladium. Great concert.
Lucretia was one of the first metal songs I heard with advanced syncopation & a jazz beat.

Poetry for the Poisoned - Kamelot (singular greatest album of the year)
If you've ever had the pleasure of The Black Halo gracing your ears, you should really reconsider.
And this is coming from a rabid Kamelot fan.
Oh believe me, I never said it was the best Kamelot album. Merely it was my favourite release of 2010 (as per the title of the thread).
I know a few people who prefer Black Halo. I myself think Karma is their best album...

Tesseract - Concealing Fate EP
was good but maybe not worth the 3 year wait. It is definitely worth a listen.
The new Nevermore album had a couple of good tracks though i only ever like a couple from each release they make. Just enough to check out the new one each time.

I'd say the best Metal album I picked up last year was Early Man's Death Potion. It still kept that awesome pseudo-Sabbath turned more-modern metal, but picked up the pace with some serious thrash riffs. Now, when it comes to Metal, FOR ME, if it doesn't thrash then it's trash. My roots are seeded deep in 1986 when Thrash was king, but I still feel thrash metal is the way to go. In fact the last metal album that I purchased before Death Potion was 3 Inches of Blood's Here Waits Thy Doom which is a must have, imho. Sadly, that album is 2009 and therefore not up for debate or it would win, hands-down.
