Had a good session of work on the Grey Knights, got the 30 Purifiers, 3 Rhinos and Crowe built. All the infintry is base coated, but I've run out of Army Painter plate mail for the Rhinos. Forgeworld don't have left Autocannon arms in stock so I'm holding out on getting the 3 dreads ordered from them. 5 weeks before I need the lot painted, for a FLGS league to start, work has got me on a training course this week, so that's 2 weekends and a weeks worth of time gone. It's going to be close

3 hours painting today, tired after along week away for work.

Mechrite Red galore, 20 of the 30 Knights have it done so far. Should be able to get the other 10 tomorrow and move onto adding in gold details. After that, Dheneb Stone and Bleach Bone for the scrolls and off for dip

Very Nice Alex was telling me you had done another famous 'Chris way of buying a Army'. When do I get to lose to this army then?

6 of each. Will run them as either 2 of each in all 3 squads, or one full of Psycannons, one of Incinerators and one with a mix

interesting. There is alot of talk about using psycannons.

I would love it if interceptors could have had them for less than 20 - its a bit steep!

No picture update! Finished off all the Mechrite Red on the knights in my first "after work" painting session in nearly a year. I usually only paint on the weekend. Going to break them down into groups of 10 now and I want to do a colour a night till they are ready for dipping

Next colour is a mix of Dheneb Stone and Bleached Bone. This is going on all the purity seals and loin clothes. 10 out of 20 done, hopefully I can get the rest done this weekend and start the gold

In the final stretch before dipping. All of the Knights have their red, biege, brass and blue areas done. Started on the gold areas now. They will all look like the one on the right before dipping

Once they are ready, I'll be using Army Painter Dark Tone to shade them up. I'll then go back and highlight the lot and paint in some "proper" power weapons.

Some of the resin bits that I've had on order finally turned up today. All of my resin basis have arrived, 40 in total.

Dozerblades from http://bitspudlo.com of Poland arrived today. I'm dead impressed, for less than £5 they area well worth the money. I temporarily attached one with sticky tac to a rhino. I'm so impressed with their resin, I've just ordered 3 sets of their assault cannons so these Rhinos can double up as Razorbacks

Grey Knights were taken out of their KR case to carry on painting this weekend, I had the camera out so grabbed a group shot.

Still waiting on Forgeworld to ship me out 3 dreads with enough auto cannons, been 2 weeks since I placed the order now

Brushed on the dip to 15 of them last night, will get the other 15 done today. Colour wise, they are spot on now.

The dip seems to work really well with your grey knights. Are you planning on touching up the details after dipping?

Yeah, I'm going to do some very basic highlighting and retouch the golds to give them some bling back

Forgeworld order showed up today, a venerable dread, a GK dread and a chaplain dread. Each has it's own Forgeworld resin base and a matching set of autocannons. Lots of resin work to do this weekend, so hope the weather is nice so I can get outside and get it done.

Interested to see how the vehicles turn out with the Quick Shade. When will you be doing those?

I can only work in fits and spurts as work allows, so I can't really nail it down. Hopefully I can get the dreads and dozer blades cleaned and built Saturday and get them base coated Sunday. That's if I can get the other 15 Knights dipped during the week

Neat. As I say, looking forward to the results; I was always concerned with how QS would cope with vehicles, but if it works out, I may be investing in some Army Painter product.

Just been over all the Forgeworld stuff and it's all in tip-top condition. One of the autocanons needs spreading slightly but otherwise it's all good to go

Great blog, I really like the Warmachine stuff and their paint jobs (BTW the Grays look good too).
Great job.

Affraid to say there isn't. I've managed to damage my shuoulder so it's causing spasms down my arm. I can work for about 10 minutes before it gets painful. The doc has given me some muscle relaxants today which will hopefully take care of it.

If you want to see how Army Painter works on bigger models, I've done my Valkyries with them. I can get some better pictures of them

Gah, hope it sorts itself out sooner or later. Keenly awaiting further updates, then.

Get well soon. (If that can be applied to physical injury?)

Those dozer blades look great. The Khador look nice and bright but then again nobody in the Iron Kingdom's does Camo!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. So, the doctor gave me Valium for my shoulder which means I can function quite well!

Managed to get the other 15 Knights dipped, build up my Dreads (only to find out MarkIV Dreads don't fit on Forgeworlds "normal" base) and got my dozerblades attached to the Rhinos. I'd also ordered some Assault Cannons from bitspudlo.com and they arrived super quick. Here are the Rhinos and a blu-tack assembly of the assault cannons. Personally I think they look bloody awesome

If the weather holds out, I want to get everything spray primed this week and transfer the Knights over to their resin basis

Oh wow, those assault cannons on the back of the rhino look totally awesome! Where did you get the dozer blades from?

Edit: further up it says from http://bitspudlo.com nevermind

Rhinos got their spray of Plate Mail today, it appears Army Painter have changed up the formula. The paint is much more metallic than it used to be, it appears that there is metallic particles in the paint now, much like GW metallics. The can felt much heavier before using it and the propellent had much more of an "umph" to it. Gotta say, I do like the look of it, only problem I can see though is the quick shade is going to cover the metallics, then the dull coat take it away completely.

Top hatch is white as I want to attempt to paint a shield and some heraldry markings up there for each squad. Will probably just end up with a very basic shield as I haven't done freehand before.

Bases for the knights also got covered in Army Painter Uniform Grey and are quick shaded, currently they are still wet so very reflective. I plan on dry brushing them heavily with Codex Grey and very lightly with Fortress Grey to bring up the edges.

(Shadow fail)

Will need to edge the bases again, not sure if to do it with grey or black

Looking good. Razorback looks positively boss.

Tip for the freehand; sketch it with a sharp pencil first. Then just colour it in with the paint, and matt varnish over the top, and you're good to go.
