Doubtful they will reopen inside metro, hopefully somewhere around metro though.

I wonder if they'll actually get a place in Vancouver Proper for once.

I'd doubt it, if they don't like the rates in a mall, they won't like them for downtown.

I'm just glad there are other stores in town, otherwise I'd be completely screwed as I don't have a credit card anymore, so can't shop online easily.

I'm not so sure that it's about the rent. The entire block of shops near their former location are supposedly being merged together to make one big store, and GW didn't even get to renew the contract.

The new location will probably be close to metrotown rather than in Vancouver proper, as metrotown is the second largest mall In Canada.

They wont be in down town. When is the last time you see any children or teens there? Its mostly tourist and students , and visa student workers.

The spot they had at metrotown was really good... right next to toys are us and that toy store forgot the name.

Ages 3 and up I think. Yes, it was a good location - too bad.

Talked to a buddy of mine last night who is pretty close with the staff there and he was saying some of the guys are still getting 40 hours a week pay building and painting terrain for the new store, it's looking good.

Good to hear! Any news on where or when the new place will open?

They want to stay around metro as far as I know, not in metro but around it, the sky train was there biggest asset.

Spoke to one of the former Metrotown GW staff at the w/e, he confirmed they will be back they are just waiting on confirmation of where they'll be. He named a few locations they'd looked at, one of which is pretty close to Metrotown, the others less so, but still reasonably easy to reach by Skytrain.

Re when the new store will be open, he did say he hoped it would be April, but of course that'll be subject to how long it takes to get a new store and get it ready (my analysis not his).

The address of the Connection on Cambie is 8136 Cambie St., but it is hidden behind the skytrain line there. Its on the East side of the street.

Personally I've been playing at the Renfrew Connections - but we've all been playing Warmachine and Hordes there rather than 40k/Fantasy.

I hate to play thread necromancer, but is there any news about the new store?

Saw one of the staff at the weekend and he said that he thought they were close to signing a lease on the new place, but no details of which of the places I'd previously been told it was, if any.

Too bad I'm now likely to be permanently back in the UK before they reopen their store. :(

I have heard from a guy that is friends with one of the employees that will be working in the bunker that they still haven't picked out a location. I just hope it is easily accessible from Surrey...

Just out of curiosity of if I know people on this thread, do you guys know a guy named Jordan that used to go to the Surrey store all the time?

Campaign is still going at the Connections on Cambie, Monday nights. I know a lot of you can't make it that day, so I'll see if I can't get 40k a slot on Sundays or Saturdays.

Two or three months left until apocalypse game #1...

I stumbled across the renfrew one the other day actually and indeed everyone was playing this "Warmachine". Do they play 40K there?

Wednesday night and sunday I think, but it's often quite crowded in there and the tables aren't that large.

Perhaps I will go in on a wednesday to confirm reports of bolterfire.

Good news for those who can't make it on the weird days Connection Games does 40k: we finally got it moved to all day Saturday at the Cambie location. We have to compete for space with random table top gamers but anything is better than Monday nights

Checked out Renfrew Connections; no bolterfire. I guess they don't play 40K there.

Thought I posted up that they had stopped playing over at Renfrew. Its all at Cambie now. They still have stock there but that might change.

I guess Warhammer is not that popular in BC afterall then. Warmachine? What the hell is Warmachine?

Its a game marked by the reflection of intense light into the store parking lot by hordes of unprimed pewter models. At least in BC.

I don't think no store will replace the one closing down. When the Headquarter store closed down 2 or 3 years ago in Oakville, it never got replaced, as they said it would be.

Now the store in Burlington closed down and still no replacement. So I wouldn't be expecting a replacement for the store.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I have to agree with this. When I was on a kayaking trip back in 6th grade to the Broken Group with family we stayed over in Vancouver and I spent about 8 hours in that store.

Only word is that they're going to reopen in Burnaby sometime. Summer at the earliest.

metrotown was the GW that i visit whenever i'm on the mainland, mostly due to its proximity to my friend's and relative's places. i remember the staff there being pretty friendly and laid back, and there was lots of activity, but the reality is that a mall like metrotown isn't an ideal place for a gaming store. it's a mall: the standard fare there is clothing stores and cell phone dealers, and what, a TNT market. not a ton of room for what they call 'cross marketing'.

an arts district would be a better place. the best gaming store I ever played in (and I played MtG and 40k there for years) was called Upstart Comics and Games (Formerly Island Fantasy) and it was in a basement in a little area called the China Steps. Surronding stores: bar (the queens), occult shop, tattoo parlour, pizza place, hippie gak, large bus terminal.
