I had the most trouble when I was introducing my wife to everyone (1st person on the right in that pic, I'm across from her) since I had used screen names all day, but couldn't very well tell her "This is Kid_Kyoto..."

Firstly thank you for not including the picture you took of me at the end of my 6th game... I had a face like a slapped arse and had lost the will to live.

Also, I picked up an additional WoC battalion so am definitely up for more Fantasy games, that mini morning campaign certainly kickstarted my interest in the game again.

Favourite moments of the morning would be:

2 turns of my chaos marauders and Wehrkinds skulking on either side of that wood, only for me to get bored, charge in after him and then headshot his chaos hero with my sorc's sniping spell.
The down to the wire slogfest of grim 'troll on chaos knight action' with Grey_Death's chaos cav force (curse my double leadership fails on marauder unit's break test!!).
The dwarf hero chasing my trolls after they also failed a break test on the sorc's ld (hmm, pattern here...) my trolls rolled 3 and the dwarf hero rolled a 12...

Favourite moments of the afternoon would be:
Laughing as my looted wagon's ordnance scattered onto some ladz getting out of the trukk.
Gnashing my teeth in rage as that last weaponless red scorpion land speeder zipped about on the table and refused to die, causing the game to be a draw!
My newfound hatred of land speeders causing me in my last game, against Oni, to send my boyz to go krump his, then realising that left them in the open for the rest of his army...

This. Haha, I completely gave up with remembering real names after about 15 minutes .

How'd your game vs. Tomb Kings finish up anyhow?

It went well for me, well enough that I kind of felt bad about it. There just wasn't anything she could cast through a level 4 Slaanesh Sorc, especially since she kept rolling 6's for her power dice. Usbati are scary, but wow, EVERYTHING else in the TK list falls over to marauders. Fun game though; the old girls were nice to talk to and took the curb stomping in good humor.

@ RiTides, you should have totally just told her all our handles. Hell, with a name like Eric Hammer everyone assumes it is made up anyway. I had a friend and his wife in the SCA who for 4 years didn't realize that was actually my name. We have decided our first kid will be named Ballpeen Danger Hammer, just to make everyone assume they are using an alias, and then can have any name they want. That, and to torture them.

Oh, and MGS, getting sniped out of the unit for the loss was my favorite part too... I am definitely adding "I had a face like a slapped arse" to my vernacular as well

Clearly, your first son needs to be named Thor S. Hammer.

Definitely need to use those for middle names.

I know someone who's given his kids the middle names "Danger" and "Adventure". No joke.

Eric, I feel your pain. I played several new people last weekend, and when you tell people in America your name is Ragnar, half the time they ask you if it's fake, and half the time they just assume.

Now that's weird.

I don't see any problem with Ragnar. It sounds like a good Nordic name.

To Brits, a lot of apparently normal US names, like Duke and Randy, sound pretty strange.

Yea it is weird over here. I love that line from Pulp Fiction when Bruce Willis is talking to the cab driver after the fight:

"My name's Butch"
"Bootch, I like that. What does it mean?"
"I'm American honey; our names don't mean anything."

What's really funny about my name though is that people frequently ask "How do you spell that?" "Uhm... Hammer?" Happens all the time, so I usually just go ahead and spell it right out. About 1 out of 20 times though the person looks at me like I am an idiot. "I know how to spell Hammer, thanks." So now I am 29 and don't really leave my house if I can

Ragnar is such a good name, especially if you are like an accountant. I know a guy named Thorin (well, my wife knows his wife from work). Fortunately he knew what I was talking about when I reflexively asked "Like Thorin Oakenshield? That is so cool!" Considering they are always asking us over to watch football, that really could have gone the other way

Oh, and side note about the Tomb King game Jin, I felt deliciously dirty dropping Ecstatic Seizures on big units of skellies. 13 cast cost for Dwellers Below but with Toughness checks? Yes, please. Now, the fact the other spells I rolled hardly did anything (immune to psych my woaded ass) mitigated that a bit, but wow... I am liking my plans for a level 4 Slaaneshi sorc more and more In a way, it is better than Dwellers; 12" longer range, 5 less to cast and T3 is more common than Str3, if only slightly. Never really thought about it before; still stuck in the 40k sense of "Well, even if I kill half the unit, that's only like 4-5 guys, derp." That turns into "Well, she rolled well and only lost 13 of 40 skeletons."

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, funny name story, I have a younger cousin who came REALLY close to being named Jack Hammer after his mom divorced her husband. Fortunately there didn't seem to be much acrimony so he was able to keep the less obvious joke.

KK, you might be surprised how few Americans know the more traditional Scandinavian names. Unless you're in Minnesota or someplace that had a lot of heavy Scandinavian immigration.

Wehrkind, maybe I'm just more outgoing; I have to spell my name almost every day but I still leave the house!

I love Ecst. Seizures! It's good against lots of stuff, but rigoddamdiculous against Dark Elves.

Hehe Mannahnin, yea generally I find humans a bit more trouble than they are worth and really tiring, hence my happy surprise that the Dakkite hordelet that descended upon Showcase was so much fun to just sit around and chat with. Hell, talking with my wife is often more effort than with the lads. Of course most of the horrific humor my wife and I share probably wouldn't have flown, on the first meet at least Next time, murder rape jokes for EVERYONE!

I play with a Dakkanaut down here in Florida named Thor; his handle is Thor665. Pretty bad-ass name, like Ragnar is.

Wow, turns out I took exactly 1 picture at Dakkacon, which is really weird. It was a worthwhile one though, of Grey Death's lovely, and apparently super cheesy and deadly at 500 points, chaos knights:

Crazy how devastating those knights were at 500! I think grey_death was the only one to go undefeated, although Boss_Salvage came close. Also, grey_death came Really close to losing the last game against MGS... I believe he had one model left? And MGS had some bad luck with his marauders high-tailing it off the table. Was an awesome game, though!

Naaaaw, Grey broke my ironguts with his knights and that was that, then I murdered Jin (), and had an amazingly tight game vs a new dwarf player last round, that had me 20mm from nabbing the center objective and winning. So I actually went closer to victoryless

Far as I can tell all of the chaos players (whose screen names don't start with Wehr- and end in -kind) did really really well. Hmm ...
