Nice picks Neil. Not sure about the second one though is a bit 'Fighting fantasy 7: Island of the Lizard King' for my tastes. You need to re up the cityfight one it didnt work; forgot about that great cover.

Mark Gibbons was such an inspiration. I would buy the Codex books and white dwarfs with his art. Oh, how those days are gone. No more white dwarfs, no more codices. Part of GW has died with him gone.

The only good thing about the old art work was that it almost always had titans in the background.

There are a lot of works that I really enjoy and it's very hard to pick any single one or even a small handful.
I know one of two of my all time favorites is depicting the 3rd war for Armageddon:
The second being Ancient Galatan, bearer of the Banner of Macragge.
These two pieces are sadly hard to find in their entirety, but if I could I would pay to have them printed and framed.

John Blanche, for the acid-trippy take not just on chaos, but on the Imperium too, that really set the tone.
And Mark Gibbon, for making it look truly scary.

All the guys like Blanche, Kopinski, Adrian Smith, Wayne England, Dainton, Gibbons, Dainton were named, so yeah. I like all of them and have various favorites by each one. The art(ists) behind GW are the reason why Warhammer became so popular in the first place IMO, at least why I started to dig it cause some of those pictures tell you so much about its world. Couple that with awesome fluff and decent rules and you've got a system full of win!
As for my favourite pictures... that's terribly difficult to say. I really like England's Valnir the Reaper artwork and Smith's Tzeentchian Sorcerer but there are so many artworks that I think totally rule - Smith e.g. made like 20 pics I totally adore - I even wrote him a mail to say how much his work/art has inspired me. But if you asked me what completely sold me on 40k, it's Neil Hodgson's converted Thousand Sons marine. Hehe!
