no and no,

however I think the poster themselve leads to a level of credability, which is why I get really annoyed when people who've had a avatar for ages change it, not looking at anyone in particular mods who I didn't relise were mods

however since my header says "boost before you post" there must be some credability to the statement

I find myself liking someone more if they have a decent or higher gallery vote count. I see ALOT of people on DAKKA that dont have one, it annoys me a bit because your missing a huge part of DAKKA. But we cant turn that into a race, because Kid Kyoto would crush all of us put together

I once decided to catch up with Kid_Kyoto's vote count.

I gave up pretty quickly.

Meh, I am not an artist or artiste. Just not the kind of person who goes around judging other peoples' art. Feels somehow wrong to me.

Na, post counts count for naught.

DCM gives no 'special' rights or priveleges apart from a private Forum, and options to skip Ads(Oh, and first dibs on Dakka Dice and a NSFW thread, which can be fun ).

Mods are quick to point out to us we aren't allowed "more leeway" when it comes to rudeness, C&C etc.

I have seen some true Donkey Caves with 6000 + posts.

I have seen geniuses with alot less.

I for one, am happy with 5th Ed 40K, so few visits to YMDC, love painting so lurk in P&M threads.

Considering I joined mid '07, my post count is very low.

A lot of people in the Gallery actually want their work evaluated.

Honesty is better than a sugar coated lie. Yes, you might offend, but tell the truth, that's why they put it in the gallery.

The sweet spot for credibility is between 5000 and 5100 posts. This will be changing soon, as it is an immutable, mysterious process that determines this.

DCM counts for something, as they go above and beyond the call of Dakka. But post count is meaningless. I mean I have over 2,000 posts (would have been well over 5,000 but old dakka ate them) and I have very little worthy to say.

I do enjoy seeing the ranks change when milestones are reached. Though it seems like I've been a "Trustworthy Shav're" for ever. I'm also sad enough to switch up my sig with every new rank (the Tau text changes). avatars get changed on more of a whim.

Postcount comes with a reputation, and that can give credibility. It can also do the opposite of giving credibility, whatever that is.

I've never looked at anyone's post count. I saw my own once, realised all it told me was that I spend too much time on dakka, so I decided to stop looking at it.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I rarely post and when I do it is mainly in the painting forums and the trading forum so I do not have much of a presence on Dakka. That being said, I don't think post count or DCM status merit additional credibility, in fact I get irritated when people gain a false sense of entitlement or importance based on the number next to their name. I saw a lot of that on another gaming forum and I'd often ignore the people that would pad their post count with mindless drivel just to gain some e-cred.

I've lost several thousand posts of count, and six and a half years off my join date. :( But they really don't matter, and I feel like I'm back in my 20s!
