Too late for a personal errata on this matter?

No, really, i've been arguing the exact same with the OT, explaining to them how i feel that the intention is noble (in a 5,5 mill citizen country, without much activity on DakkaDakka forums or similar, the current level of actual skills are quite limited.), but hardly would work in practice.
- The answer i got was pretty much nothing more, than the OP had already explained; That the power-level of some armies has to be toned down in order for the less-competetive armies a fighting chance.

Anyways, i could probably go on all night on this. I've suggested some changes, provided loop-holes and flaws to the system with understandable explanations, and my prayers hasn't been heard.

Doomthumbs wrote:One harpy came in and HVC blasted another weapon team with its S9 ap4 blast and cluster spines.

I promise this comment was not born out of scepticism, but true curiousity, given an idea wide spread all over dakka dakka (so far I have read) and also repeated among several of your (Doomthumbs) posts, I'm starting to think "scatter" is a concept mostly unknown to many/your armies/games so, pray tell:

- Do you roll scatter die when shooting blast area weapons?
- If so, (which I believe you do, but had to ask) are any of your scatter die currently on sale? That faith in blast weapons must be supported on gaming experience, so I would truly welcome reliable blast weaponry in my arsenal, if such a weapon exists.
- Please, let me know when and where will those pictures be uploaded, I recently played a game of 3000 all reserves spearheadS nid list (posted, BTW) Vs. 1500 SW and 1500 DA, I started 2nd and yet managed to half wipe them out by turn 3, BUT a point untold (till right now, duh) is both my adversaries were, if possible greener than me, deploying, maneuvering and making poor use of poorly balanced lists, which most likely let me foresee the outcome of the battle even before its beginning.

I, once again, would like to make clear I just find strange the lack of scatter comments right after blast weaponry is mentioned, or DS for that matter.

Bill, the system I use gets tweaked all the time too.
Its this game called Warhammer 40k, and I much prefer it to this S3 thing.
Sorry, but I just do.

Enk:
-You bet I do!
-Sure do! They are $50 dollars each, interesting trades considered. Its just a regular die though, sorry. But it seems to work when I have 2 blasts per creature, one of them twin linked, and I double up or triple up on the creatures firing them. Twin linked blast weapons generally hit more? Not sure what to say man. They're twin linked. Its what they do. More is just better. On that note, they also have a multiple barrage large blast during the movement phase (which, I should mention, scatters quite a bit). So if all of these blasts are at least AP5, why the scepticism when I say they are wiping out Gants and Guardsmen? Thats a lot of blasts, and really just one kills them dead.
-Most likely in an hour or two? I'll PM you. But wait, you played people that were new to the game and eagerly watched as they made mistakes? And you didn't help them? Ok, empathy for your cause here is fading fast. I don't think my buddy would like you much. Me either, to be perfectly honest.
-Spearhead? So you're using either the Monstrous or Mass Attack spearhead, huh? Since those are like the two that benefit nids?

I'll say it again, since you apparently glossed over these parts in my hasty batrep.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the game, one harpy mishapped back into reserves and a spore pod was placed by my enemy, so right off, I wonder if you'e being genuine in your assertions that I forget to add it all the time.

I need to insist it was pure and true curiousity.

Thank you for your attention.

Oh, I did help, that was the point of me playing under several SPECIAL conditions I will number to you (PM) if you want to know, what I thought would serve as lesson was letting them suffer the consequences of SOME (very low percentage) wrong decissions about basic strategy, for them to remember better. (works perfectly so far)
That and, let's say, avoid telling an opponent to use the PF a sergeant has in a CC phase in case he forgot is different stuff and didn't happen, not once.
What I meant with this comment is that you did not specify the level of your opponent/s, whether they were good tacticians or meh.

Doomthumbs wrote:-Spearhead? So you're using either the Monstrous or Mass Attack spearhead, huh? Since those are like the two that benefit nids?

Both of them, actually. If you feel like you want to know more, search for threads I opened, the one with an obvious title. (really similar to this of yours)

Indeed, perhaps you forgot to put them (or some) in or I read a bit too "fast", leaving those points unnoticed, never mind, then.

No problem, I think its best we just leave it at the handshake on this one rather than insinuate that I added stuff in later to suit my argument.

I know you're using those spearheads and your strategies without even opening the thread. Its what all tyranid players are doing, with maybe a few slight variations. Once again, just like battle missions and everyhting else, the motto seems to be "Make it hurt for Tyranids".

Have you seen my modeling thread for GGGPs?

has anyone pointed out that the reserve bonuses do not stack, per the gw FAQ?

Yes, and they were already smacked down.

Two hive commander bonuses do not stack.

Hive commander and Alien Cunning DO stack.

Thank you, have a great day.

I'd also just like to point out... why 3k pts? That is a rather random number of points to be building a list for outside of campaigns.

Also, I have yet to see a match where one single force vs. multiple forces adding up to the same point cost has resulted in the one force side losing unless by HORRIFIC rolls. A single mind with a single focus will decimate (typically) a multi-opponent force. I'd like to see this list playtest against a single 3k pts force that actually has that amount of points and isn't just a "take every upgrade I can to get to 3k".

Well, If you're like me, you:
-Love 40k.
-Stuck with your one army.
-Want to play big games.

Off to play a 4500 point game vs space marines, added 2 trygon primes with adrenals, 2 harpies, 2 dakkafexes, 3 hiveguard in spore, and some change to the list.

stuff later.

I realize it matters not how many times I repeat, it will still look like I was accussing somebody of doing something, my apologies for that... *hands shaking*

Doomthumbs wrote:Have you seen my modeling thread for GGGPs?

If that has something to do with "goatse" and an unpronounceable (for me) name then yes, I did. If not, I will check again.

-Siempre trabajando a mejorar mi espanol. Podemos coninuar este conversation en espanol si prefieres. (Lo siento mucho, su ingles es mejor de mi espanol)
Don't worry about pronouncing GGGP. That you've seen it is enough for me.

-Yeah, I know. My main opponent and I make "mistakes" like this all the time. I pod in hive guard, he uses descent of angels and heroic intervention on a vet squad, assaulting after firing.
The funny part is that in addition to killpoints/objectives, we track mistakes that we can catch and a "who was right in the argument over a rule" count as well. And really, at 4500 points, we're just trying to get through turn 3.
