Har har. I'm poking fun at the fact the DSI came out not to long ago, and they are already making a new one. Its almost a bad as the Pokemon games. Two each release? Are you Fething me? They are just repaints of the same old Gameboy games, but with 'OMG AWESOME NEW LEGENDARY!" The DS has been on the market for 7 years the DSi has been on the market for 3. Neither one is new. The DSI was also a hardware revision, not a new console. They came out with a new version of the ps2 months before the ps3 was launched, hardware revisions are artifacts of the manufacturing process more then they are sequels to consoles. Also, the dual game pokemon release is one of the keys to it's success. It forces players to play with eachother. Complaining like that is akin to complaining that WoW isn't fun unless you have an internet connection. As to the nature of sequels... Well it's a sequel. Welcome to sequels, they aren't wholly different games, if they were they wouldn't be sequels.

You're thinking the DSIXL, which was a complete and total failure from a sales perspective.

There are so many other things I would rather spend $249.99USD on... a new xbox for instance since mine is showing its age.

Its expensive, but I still think it will be cool. One thing you have to understand is that this thing is not just a revised DS. From what I understand(I could be wrong) it's basically a new console, that is, 3DS games won't work on an older DS system.
So yeah, I'll probably wait a year or so, but I'll probably get it eventually. Have to see what else comes out.

Indeed it is a total revamp. Comparing it to a DSi would be like comparing a PS2 to a PS3. Maybe even worse then that honestly. The graphics are on par/better (depending on the games you see) then the Wii.
Also, I put some stats and things on the first post Automatically Appended Next Post: 1.6 BILLION fillrate?!
So its on par or better graphics wise with the others. But that fill rate is insane. Ive heard people say you have to see it in person to understand how awesome it looks I cant wait. Id suggest if your not sure or an Anti Nintendo person, try and find a demo for it.

Well, I for one am excited! I skipped the DSI/DSIXL generation, as I didn't need the extra functionality and still wanted the ability to play GBA games. However, I don't think I can stay away from the improved system power and the 3D feature. Plus, my poor old launch DS Lite is starting to show its age .

I sold my DS, as I only got maybe ten hours of gameplay out of it. The market is absolutely flooded with unforgivable shovelware, and it's practically impossible to find any games that you want anywhere. I prefer my PSP, as it has plenty of games that boast hundreds of hours of gameplay and plenty of depth (unlike, say, pokemon. Rock-paper-scissors is not depth).
This, however, looks pretty interesting. The two analogue sticks should make it a fully-featured console, and graphically, it looks nearly as good as the gamecube. I'm relieved to see that you can turn down the intensity of the 3D or turn it off completely, otherwise that would've kept me from buying it. '3D' displays give me migraines very easily.

Not nearly as much. I can walk into a store and find exactly the game I want for my PSP, as the system's library is smaller, more controlled (Nintendo just seems to let the floodgate open with their systems), and of a higher quality (per capita). However, whenever I went looking for a game for my DS, nearly all I could find was shovelware targeted at ten-year-olds. The shelves are absolutely loaded with titles that literally make me laugh at whatever poor, unfortunate parents have to buy this nonsense for their children. I couldn't even find half the games that I bought the DS to play anywhere (after looking in numerous different locations). If you think that the DS' library doesn't include far more ridiculously awful games than the PSP's library, then you must be blind. The PSP may have a lot of ports (at least, in it's initial stages, it did), but that's it's worst offense. I'd much rather have a decent port of a good game than a flat out bad game that's designed to suck the money out of the wallets of unsuspecting parents while offering little in the way of...y'know...fun.

Riiiiiiiiiight because Sony is a company that shoos away the prospects of making a buck, they would rather have every game perfect, and every game their customers want.
But again this is NOT a whats better thread. Its about the Nintendo 3DS, THATS IT

Not that they don't, but they at least have somewhat decent quality control, while Nintendo lets literally anything slide. The fact that the PSP is harder to code for might be some built-in failsafe against badly made one-off games. Hopefully this is also the case with the 3DS. It only really becomes a problem when you have so many bad games that all the good ones get pushed off of store shelves (which happens with the DS frequently). But again this is NOT a whats better thread. Its about the Nintendo 3DS, THATS IT I think it's somewhat relevant, as this absence of quality could also end up happening to the 3DS' library, as it did with the DS and the Wii. You need something to compare it to, otherwise the DS' library is the golden standard (which is an awful thought). I originally brought up my dislike of the DS because the fact that I'm willing to buy a 3DS shows just how awesome it looks.

The PSP has less games becuase it is a far less successful platform and has a much narrower demographic. I do like how you are trying to turn lemons into lemonade though.

Not that they don't, but they at least have somewhat decent quality control, while Nintendo lets literally anything slide. I really don't think we're looking at the same PSP shelf at gamestop. The only thing differentiating the two so far as shovelware is concerned is cost of development and platform adoption, its cheaper to develop for the DS and there are ten thousand times as many consoles in circulation. Thus its more prone to shovelware due to the economics of the situation. Sony doesn't have better quality control, if anything their standards are far lower then the legendarily harsh nintendo content QC standards and Microsoft's byzantine mechanical standards. Theres just no profit in shovelwaring a system that no one wants to buy games for.
