That's Mr Edward Teach, AKA Blackbeard, Bristol's finest... as portrayed in the BBC's drama/doc by James Purefoy. Not a bad little serial if you want to grab it on DVD.

That page has quite a lot of badass military units, apart from all the Rambo-style soldiers that single-handedly liberated whole cities. I researched some of the more unbelievable stories, but that stuff seems really to be true, although the guy on that page uses quite a colorful language to describe what happened.
The winged Hussars were quite an amazing fighting force, it seems. Fought battles outnumbered 11:1 and still managed to win. Being part of that king of cavalry defintely would've rocked, I guess.

There are a lot of stories on that page that seem abso-fething-lutely ludicrous. Stories about one American G.I. going insane on a whole TOWN occupied by a few hundred German Nazi soldiers in WW2, killing half of them and arresting the other half, making trips in and out of the village to drop off his prisoners at a basecamp full of amazed fellow Allied soldiers. The thing is, what he puts on that badass-of-the-week page is always true, I researched quite a bit of it. While he takes a certain narrative freedom in some places, the site never ceases to amaze me with new crazy stories...
By the way, that Bishnu Shrestha guy is one role-model for courage and balls of steel in my opinion.

Once upon a time, UK TV showed a proggy about Commandos, and how they did what they did. Imagine two old duffers, able to kick more arse than this entire website combined. Seriously. Apparently, the shape of the German Helmet (fnarr fnarr!) leant itself to breaking their necks! Truly amazing stuff!
